RESOLUTION NO. 3225 Passed Feb. 4, 2013 RESOLUTION ADOPTING A B.G. TRANSIT CITIZEN PARTICIPATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN WHEREAS, the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, receives annual funding from Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration, and WHEREAS, each jurisdiction receiving said grant funds must adopt a citizen participation plan that sets forth the jurisdiction's policies and procedures for citizen participation pursuant to the revised Title VI, 4702.1B Circular. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO: SECTION 1: The City of Bowling Green adopts the B.G. Transit Citizen Participation Plan. SECTION 2: The plan, as adopted, will remain in effect until such time it is determined that amendments should be made. SECTION 3: Any amendments to said plan will be made on an as-needed basis. SECTION 4: The adopted plan will be considered public and available for citizen review, upon request, in the Grants Administration Office. RESOLUTION NO. 3226 Passed Feb. 4, 2013 RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT OF THE BOWLING GREEN CITY COUNCIL FOR THE FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TOLEDO/NORTHWEST OHIO TRANSPORTATION COALITION FOR THE TRANSPORTATION LEGISLATIVE AGENDA FOR 2013 AND 2014 WHEREAS, the City of Bowling Green is one of the Toledo/Northwest Ohio Coalition partners that developed the Transportation Legislative Agenda for 2013 and 2014; and WHEREAS, development of the Legislative Agenda was coordinated by the Transportation Council of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG); and WHEREAS, the agenda was developed as a result of a comprehensive analysis of transportation needs in the region and it encourages our legislators to develop a federal transportation bill to provide continued and expanded support thereof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN: SECTION 1: That the Toledo/Northwest Ohio Transportation Coalition and the Transportation Council of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) are hereby commended for their work in gathering and analyzing the regional transportation data and for the development of the Transportation Legislative Agenda for 2013 and 2014. RESOLUTION NO. 3227 Passed Feb. 4, 2013 RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING ACTION BY STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS TO REDUCE GUN VIOLENCE IN THE UNITED STATES Whereas, this Council decries the growing and disturbing trend of gun violence in our society in general and, more particularly, gun violence which results in death and/or injury to children; and Whereas, this Council recognizes that to change the trend of gun violence, the cooperation, support, and coordination of all levels of government is needed; and Whereas, this Council believes that the time has come in our country where we must seriously look at our laws and engage in thoughtful and civilized discussions about this important matter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO: SECTION 1: This Council encourages the state and federal governments to work diligently in developing laws and practices designed to more effectively regulate, including background checks, the trade of arms such as the assault weapons used in the massacre of innocent people in Newtown, Connecticut, including 20 school age children between the ages of 6 and 7, but excluding pistols, rifles, and shotguns used for sporting or hunting purposes. SECTION 2: This Council encourages the provision of adequate resources to help people who are both mentally ill and violence prone, in terms of screening and long term care. SECTION 3: We encourage the provision of adequate security in public buildings. SECTION 4: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized to send a certified copy of this resolution to U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman, U.S. Representative Robert Latta, State Senator Randy Gardner, and State Representative Tim Brown. RESOLUTION NO. 3232 Passed Feb. 4, 2013 RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE NAME “BG CITY POOL AND WATER PARK” WHEREAS, Ordinance #6056 adopted by City Council on October 7, 1996 designates City Council as the authority to name and/or rename City-owned facilities; and WHEREAS, for several decades, the former pool site was unofficially known as and referred to as “City Pool”; and WHEREAS, in recognition of both that history and the inclusion of several water features which have been incorporated into the newly constructed pool facility; and WHEREAS, in accordance with a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Board, the City Council has described to officially name the new pool facility “BG City Pool and Water Park.” NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO.
