change the trend of gunviolence,the cooperation, support, and coordinationof all levels ofgovernment is
needed; andWhereas,this Council believes that thetime has come in our country where wemust seriously look at
our lawsand engage in thoughtfuland civilized discussions about this importantmatter.NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF BOWLINGGREEN, OHIO:SECTION1: This Council encourages thestate and
federal governments to workdiligently in developing laws andpractices designed to moreeffectively regulate,
including backgroundchecks, the trade of armssuch as the assault weapons used in themassacre of innocent
people in Newtown, Connecticut, including 20school age children between the ages of 6 and 7, but
excludingpistols,rifles, and shotguns used for sporting or hunting purposes.SECTION2: This Council
