The Traveling Clothesline and Silent Witness Project will both be on display at surrounding Wood County libraries starting this week, in a project being sponsored by Victims Services of Behavioral Connections. These two projects are being merged in an effort to convey the gravity of violence against women.
This event is done in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
The Clothesline Project is a visual display that bears witness to violence against women. During a public display, a clothesline is hung with shirts to "Break the Silence" that often accompanies violence against women. Each shirt is decorated to represent a particular woman's experience, ranging from childhood abuse to sexual assault.  Furthermore, the shirts have been designed by the survivor herself or someone who cares about her.

The Silent Witness Project is a powerful testament of commitment to honor homicide victims of domestic violence.  The project consists of life-sized wooden silhouettes representing women from Wood County, whose lives ended violently at the hands of husbands, boyfriends, or dating partners.  There have been over 50 such murders in Northwest Ohio in the past decade.
The exhibit will be at the following locations:
¥ Tuesday - Loop Park in Walbridge
¥ Wednesday - Way Public Library in Perrysburg
¥ Oct. 14 - Wood County District Public Library
¥ Oct. 21 - Pemberville Public Library
¥ Oct. 22 - Weston Public Library
¥ Oct. 28 - Rudolph Civic Center
¥ Oct. 29 - North Baltimore Public Library
The hours of the display will be 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for all locations. The displays will be on the lawn of each respective library.
