PERRYSBURG - Perrysburg Youth Chamber Ensemble will begin its season Wednesday.
The mission of the newly formed ensemble is to provide quality music instruction in a friendly and educational environment. Participation will allow students to improve musical skills, perform on a regular basis, and meet other young musicians. They will be able to play a variety of music, including pop, classical, movie tunes, patriotic and seasonal.
The Perrysburg Youth Chamber Ensemble is designed for seventh and eighth-grade instrumental music students. Sixth-grade instrumental music students are invited to join at beginning of second semester.
Students do not have to be residents of Perrysburg to join. Members are volunteers and an audition is not required. However, potential members should have the ability to play junior high school level music.
Rehearsals begin Wednesday from 6 to 6:40 p.m. in the Choir Room, Grace United Methodist Church, 601 E. Boundary St. Students should bring their instrument and a music stand.

The Perrysburg Youth Chamber Ensemble is under the direction of Jason Jordan and Paul Reed.
Jordan joined Perrysburg bands in 2004 as assistant director at the high school. In 2006, he became the junior high director of bands. Jordan previously was instructor of tuba and euphonium at the University of Toledo, started the band program at St. Rose School in Perrysburg, and taught music at Regina Coeli School in Toledo.
Reed joined Fremont City Schools as band director in 1984. He has directed ensembles at all levels. Under his direction, the Symphonic Band, ninth and seventh-grade bands consistently received Excellent and Superior ratings at OMEA adjudicated events.
