Rachel Rine and Eliza Downard have been selected as Buckeye Girls State delegates by Tontogany American Legion Auxiliary Unit 441.
Rine is a junior at Bowling Green High School and is the daughter of Eric and Stephanie Rine.
She is a member of student congress, speech team, aerospace club, German club, model United Nations and the madrigal singers. She is vice president of the drama club.
Rine volunteers for math olympiad, Children’s Miracle Network, theater productions and peer tutoring. She has also taught German to preschoolers.
Downard is a junior at Otsego High School and is the daughter of Thomas and Candy Downard. She is a member of Monclova Christian Academy’s varsity basketball team, Otsego cross country team, book and media clubs, FFA and track team. She is a wrestling statistician.
The alternates are Ashley Holzwart and Sarah Dumas, both juniors at Otsego.
Holzwart is the daughter of Kelly Scherff. She is active in volleyball, basketball, softball, AAU basketball, yearbook and chorale.
Dumas is the daughter of Cheri Kent. She participates in band and track.
Buckeye Girls State will be held at Ashland University June 14-20.
