TOLEDO -  With a combination of several small fundraisers and its annual dinner auction, the Danberry Co. was able to donate $38,000 this year to the Danberry Treasure Chest, an emergency assistance fund administered by the Toledo Children's Hospital Foundation.
The fund annually assists dozens of families throughout Northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan who are challenged by a child's chronic illness as well as financial needs. In 2012 approximately 70 families received over $60,000 in assistance.
"It's incredibly heart-warming to witness the generosity and caring spirit of so many people in the real estate community during a challenging economy. The need for the kind of assistance that the Danberry Treasure Chests provides has never been greater," said Dick Baker, Danberry president.
"Over the years we have been able to raise over $410,000 for this worthy cause which is a tribute to not only members of our Danberry family but also hundreds of area businesses that have served as sponsors or contributed items to our charity auction," added Lynn Fruth, Danberry CEO.
Danberry's annual dinner auction is unlike most other charitable fundraisers which are typically hosted by the benefiting charity. "Nineteen years ago our people expressed a desire to find a way to give back to our community and the Danberry Treasure Chest was born," Fruth said.
Established in 1962, the Danberry Co. has six offices and over 250 associates and staff serving Northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
