County deeds, mortgages down for first quarter

Wood County Recorder Julie Baumgardner has released a report covering the transactions of the recorder’s
office for the first quarter, Jan. 1 through March 31.
For this quarter, 1,019 deeds were recorded, compared to 1,167 deeds being recorded for the same quarter
last year.
Also, 787 mortgages, with a valuation of $331.6 million were recorded for the quarter, compared to 1,434
mortgages, with a valuation of $244.4 million being recorded for the same quarter last year.
Numerous other documents were recorded, in addition to the above, for a total of 3,678 documents being
recorded for this quarter, compared to 5,362 documents being recorded for the same quarter in 2013.
Baumgardner paid $194,001 into the county for this quarter, compared to $295,310 for the same quarter
last year.
Of that total, $73,932 was paid directly into the county general fund, compared with $112,873 for the
same quarter last year.
Of the total for this quarter, $95,400 was paid into the housing trust fund, less 1 percent back to the
county general fund by the state for the timely distribution of the money to the fund, compared with
$145,904 for the same quarter last year, less 1 percent paid back to the county general fund.
The remaining balance of $24,668 was paid into the recorder’s equipment fund for this quarter, compared
with $36,533 for the same quarter last year.
