Jerry York failed to become the NCAA’s all-time winningest college hockey coach Friday.
Boston College, where York is the head coach after previously being a head coach at Bowling Green, played a 3-3 tie at Providence College.
York has 924 career wins and needs just one more victory to break a tie with Ron Mason, also a former head coach at BG, for the most wins all-time.
York’s next chance to set the record won’t come until Dec. 29 when BC plays Alabama-Huntsville at the Mariucci Classic in Minneapolis.
Providence scored an extra-attacker goal with just 11 seconds remaining to earn the tie.
BC is 11-2-1 overall and ranked first nationally.
