Tinora beats Northwood, 34-6

DEFIANCE — Riley Nagel rushed for 132 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries Friday to lead eighth-ranked Tinora to a 34-6 win over Northwood in the first round of the Division VI state high school football playoffs.
Nagel scored on runs of 5, 4 and 25 yards in the first half when Tinora built a 27-0 lead.
The Rams took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and added 20 points in the second quarter.
Northwood scored its touchdown in the final period on Dominik Bermejo’s 35-yard interception return.
Northwood had 201 yards rushing, but was 0-of-8 passing.
Bermejo finished with 156 yards on 18 carries.
Tinora totaled 391 yards, including 228 yards rushing.
“We went into the game knowing we were going to have a do a really good of executing and we weren’t as sharp as we needed to be,” Northwood coach Ken James said. “In a games like this and against good teams like this, mistakes get magnified.”
Kurt Kahle added 15 carries for 85 yards and caught a 14-yard TD pass from Brevin Renollet.
Renollet completed 9-of-13 passes for 163 yards.
Northwood —in the playoffs for the fifth straight season — finished 8-3 overall.
The Rangers entered the playoffs on an eight-game winning streak.
