OLD FORT — At halftime, the Bowling Green girls basketball team game-planned to get the ball inside
Led by Tyanna Smith, the Bobcats responded with a 25-point third quarter on the way to a 68-48 win over Port Clinton Saturday. BG led 30-27 at the half.
The game was a Division II sectional final played at Old Fort High School.
The Bobcats, 13-11 overall, advance to the district semifinal Thursday at 8 p.m. against Toledo Rogers at Perrysburg High School.
‘‘We thought we could get after them with a little pressure, and we thought if that rattled them, we could really get after them in the post,’’ BG head coach Jeff Nichols said.
‘‘We talked about it at halftime to make sure we got a couple of our set-play looks inside and finish them,’’ he continued. ‘‘That enabled us to do what we wanted to do in the second half.’’

PERRYSBURG — Friday night had the potential to be something special for Perrysburg’s boys basketball team.
It exceeded that and then some.
The Yellow Jackets clinched their first Northern Lakes League title since 2010 with a 76-59 win over Bowling Green, and Perrysburg guard Nick Moschetti become the fourth player in school history to hit the 1,000-point plateau.  PHOTO GALLERY
Perrysburg ended its regular season 19-3 overall and 11-3 in the NLL, sharing the league crown with Springfield, which beat Northview to clinch a share.
The title gave Perrysburg 10 NLL championships this academic year.
“We knew the beginning of this year it was going to be a real tough league — a tight league, especially at the top with four really good teams,” Perrysburg coach Dave Boyce said. “All four of us slugged it out, and to be one of the two teams to share it is pretty cool.”

MILLBURY — Lake’s boys basketball team celebrated its second Northern Buckeye Conference championship in three years after a 75-49 victory over Woodmore on Friday.
The Flyers competed league play with a 13-1 record (20-1 overall) to clinch the outright title and break the school’s single-season wins record. The previous record was 19 wins set in 1999 and tied last year. Lake has one nonleague game remaining against Northwood on Saturday.  PHOTO GALLERY
“It’s the best feeling in the world,” said junior point guard Connor Bowen. “We accomplished what we wanted to at the beginning of the season. Of course, we wanted to be 22-0, but you can’t get much better than 20-1.”
During Friday’s game, Bowen also broke the single-season scoring record. With 1:04 remaining in the first quarter, Bowen hit a layup to surpass the record previously held by Ra’Shad Smith with 451 points in 2011-2012.
