MAUMEE — Perrysburg, like most area schools, has had an extensive period of time off due to bad weather.
Having not played since Jan. 18, the 10th-ranked Yellow Jackets showed a bit of rust early Thursday night in a Northern Lakes League matchup at Maumee.  PHOTO GALLERY
But five minutes into action, Perrysburg seemed to be back in mid-season form and coasted to a 79-19 victory over the Panthers.
“Teams game plan for you and it’s like sort of whatever the game plan is, they’re really into it. And then when we started to stretch the lead a little bit that was it,” Perrysburg coach Todd Sims said.
Perrysburg is 13-2 overall and 11-0 in the NLL, clinching at least a share of the league title with three games to play. Northview is second in the NLL at 9-3. Every other team has at least four league losses.
After committing four fouls and three turnovers in the opening four minutes, Perrysburg held just a 7-4 lead over the Panthers (1-15, 0-12). Then Abby Sattler’s 3-pointer from the top of the key sparked a 21-2 run that spilled into the second quarter, giving the ’Jackets a 28-6 lead.
“It might have been a little bit of rust, but I thought we looked all right the rest of the night,” Sims said.

LUCKEY —  Eastwood’s boys basketball team continued its historical home court dominance over Lake Thursday and upset the fourth-ranked and previously undefeated Flyers, 71-63.
The Flyers’ loss means a two-way tie for first place in the Northern Buckeye Conference with Lake (13-1 overall) and Rossford now at 7-1. Eastwood (10-4) sits in third place at 6-2.  PHOTO GALLERY
“We knew to stay in league contention this had to be a win for us, and our guys rose to the occasion,” Eastwood coach Matt Routson said.
After trailing 24-19 at the half, Eastwood came out firing and went on an 11-0 run to begin the second half. The run concluded with a two-hand dunk by Steven Bradley with 6:15 remaining in the third quarter to put the Eagles up 30-24.
“The target has been on our back for a while now,” Lake coach Ryan Bowen said.
