JERRY CITY - Elmwood's boys track and field team has performed well this season.
The Royals are striving for another impressive finish to an already successful season this weekend in the Division III state meet at Ohio State University.
Three individuals and two relay teams will represent Elmwood at state.
The individual qualifiers are seniors Lorne Strausbaugh in the 1,600 and Alex Jasso in the 800, and junior Aaron Arnold in the long jump.
Sophomore Andrew Jasso, Strausbaugh, sophomore Josh Mathias and Alex Jasso qualified in the 3,200 relay.
The 1,600 relay team of sophomore Austin Jasso, Alex Jasso, senior Michael Baer and Arnold also advanced to state.
At the state meet in the relays, the top two finishers in each semifinal and the next five fastest times overall qualify for the finals on Saturday.
The top eight finishers in all events earn All-Ohio honors and are recognized on the awards podium following the event.

JERRY CITY - Aaron Arnold went up to catch a pass last August, just like he had hundreds of other times.
And just like normal, the Elmwood receiver was tackled on the play.
Only this time, he hit the ground hard and thought he had a cramp in the calf muscle of his left leg.
He tried to walk it off and stretch it out, but it never felt right. He couldn't put pressure on the leg later that evening, eventually hopped up the stairs to bed and still felt excruciating pain the next morning.
Arnold drove to practice to see trainer Mike Messaros the next morning, and the 6-foot-5, 190-pounder was in emergency surgery only 22 hours after the injury.
He was diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome which, according to medical websites, hinders blood flow to a muscle, usually the result of swelling or bleeding.
The injury, suffered Aug. 7, was so severe he was expected to miss the entire football season and was told he would be "lucky" to be healthy for basketball.
But the junior three-sport athlete healed quickly, worked hard to return and missed only four football games.
