Prep Roundup: Two from county compete at state (2-21-14)

Two athletes from Wood County high schools competed in the preliminaries of the state high school
swimming and diving championships Thursday at Branin Natatorium in Canton.
In the Division II boys meet, BG’s Trae Gulgin tied for 11th in the 100 backstroke in 54.38.
Gulgin will swim tonight in the consolation finals.
The top eight finishers advanced to the championship finals, while the ninth- through 16th-place
finishers swim in the consolation finals.
In the Division II girls meet, Eastwood’s Alyssa Decker finished 17th in the 200 individual medley in
2:13.47 and 19th in the 100 butterfly in 60.12.
BG’s Emmy Sehmann swims in the Division I prelims of the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle today. She’s
seeded sixth in both events.

North Baltimore 66,
Lakota 54
In Kansas, North Baltimore out-scored Lakota 22-9 in the fourth quarter on the way to the Midland
Athletic League win.
NB’s Tyler Trumbull scored 25 points and had 12 rebounds while Chad Wright scored 19 points.
Colin Timmons led Lakota with 17 points.
NB is 9-12 overall and 3-6 in the MAL while Lakota is 8-13, 1-8.

BASKETBALL
Bowling Green beat Timberstone, 40-22. Callie Scheier had 12 points for BG, followed by Cate Korsnack had
nine and Angelina Mendieta with eight. BG’s record is 8-1.
Perrysburg beat Gateway, 31-26. Nadeen Jemaa had 16 points for Perrysburg, 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the
Northern Lakes League.

BASKETBALL
Perrysburg beat Gateway, 34-16. Ashlynn Brown scored seven points and Tor Kopp added six for Perrysburg
(9-0, 6-0).
Bowling Green beat Arbor Hills, 27-23. BG’s Holly Roe had eight points.

Lake beat Eastwood, 48-19. Lake’s Luke Walsh scored 11 points and Jase Bowen had 10.

Eastwood beat Lake, 40-30. Ahmed Smith led Lake with nine points, followed by Blake Osborn; Dylan Quinn,
and Michael Szymanski each with six.
