Prep Roundup: Shirling pitches Eastwood softball past Wauseon (04-01-14)

Sam Shirling pitched a four-hitter and struck out eight to help Eastwood’s softball team to a 5-1 win
over Wauseon.
Wauseon scored an unearned run in the top of the first, but Eastwood answered with three runs in the
third and two more in the sixth.
Mackenzie Albright, Cassidy Rolf and Morgan Getz each had two hits for Eastwood, and Michaela Bunge
doubled. Albright’s were a double and a home run.
Oak Harbor 4, Lake 3, 10 innings
In Oak Harbor, the Rockets scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th.
Megan Williams and Sumer Woodruff each had two hits for Lake. Woodruff also had two RBI and a double.
Archbold 8, Otsego 2
In Tontogany, Archbold scored once in the fifth and six times in the sixth to overcome a 2-1 deficit.
Emma Perry doubled for Otsego.
North Baltimore 11, Ayersville 6
In North Baltimore, the Tigers scored six times in the fourth to erase a 4-3 deficit.
NB’s leading hitters were: Hanna Brian, three hits, RBI; Cheyenne Hernandez, three hits, two RBI; and
Jasmine Bretz, two hits, RBI.
Sandusky St. Mary 6, Northwood 2
In Northwood, Sandusky St. Mary scored all of its runs in fourth, fifth and six innings to break open a
scoreless game.
Emily Murphy had two hits and scored a run for Northwood.
BASEBALL
North Baltimore 3, Otsego 0
In North Baltimore, Andrew Hollinger pitched a one-hitter for NB.
He struck out five and walked four.
NB’s Jacob Frost hit a two-run single in the third to open the scoring.
Jon Thomas’ single was Otsego’s only hit.
Rossford 5, Wauseon 4
In Wauseon, Rossford built a 5-0 lead and held off Wauseon.
Four different players had one hit for Rossford, including winning pitcher Noah Asmus, who doubled,
scored a run and had an RBI.
Southview 4, Eastwood 1
In Sylvania, Eastwood had only three hits.

Fremont Ross 4, BGHS 1
In Fremont, BG’s win came from Ryan Motsinger at No. 1 singles.
