Prep Roundup: Rossford softball posts NBC win (04-30-13) PDF Print E-mail

Hannah Gauthier pitched a one-hitter to help Rossford defeat Woodmore 1-0 in a Northern Buckeye Conference softball matchup.
The Bulldogs are 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the NBC.
Kelly Swope doubled in the game's only run in the first inning.
Woodmore threatened in the fifth when a runner on second tried to score on a base hit, but center fielder Maddie York threw her out at home.

Springfield 8, BGHS 4
In Holland, Bowling Green collected nine hits but the offense wasn't enough in a Northern Lakes League loss.
Lily Murnen and Anna Szabo each had two singles for BG.

New Riegel 10,
North Baltimore 7
In North Baltimore, New Riegel scored eight times in the fourth through sixth innings to improve to 11-5 overall and 4-1 in the MAL. NB is 8-6, 3-1.
NB's leading hitters were: Megan Wright, 4-for-4, double, two RBI; Ricci Emahiser, 2-for-4; Jasmine Bretz, 2-for-4, RBI; and Haleigh Fleck, 2-for-4, double RBI.

Springfield 4, BGHS 3
In Holland, Springfield scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge BG in an NLL game. BG has lost four one-run games this season.
BG's Nolan Dill had eight strikeouts.
Andy Fisher was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run for BG, and Ricky Riggs was 2-for-3.

Otsego 6, Fostoria 1
In Fostoria, Otsego had 12 hits and pitcher Hunter Donald had 11 strikeouts to give the Knights an NBC win.
Otsego is 4-0 in the NBC.
Donald added a double, home run and three RBI.
Other top hitters for Otsego were: Collin Austin, 3-for-4, RBI; Nate Hackworth, 2-for-4, double, RBI; Ryan Smoyer, double; and Josh Williams, two singles.

Evergreen 1, Lake 0
Evergreen 3,
Lake 2, 8 innings
In Metamora, Evergreen swept a nonleague doubleheader from Lake on Saturday. Lake is 6-7.
In the first game, four different Flyers each had a base hit. In the second game, Brad Ackerman was 2-for-2 and Joel Densic was 2-for-4.

North Baltimore 11,
New Riegel 4
In North Baltimore, the Tigers pounded 12 hits in an MAL win. NB is 9-7 and 4-0.
NB's Jordan Watson struck out seven and allowed one walk. He added two singles, a home run and five RBI at the plate.
Other top hitters for NB were: Dalton Ishmael, two singles; Jacob Frost, 3-for-3 with two RBI; Garrett Boyer, single, RBI; and Zach Stewart, two singles and four runs.

Junior high results
Eastwood defeated Otsego, 101 1/3-21 2/3.
Otsego's winners were: Ryan Lashaway (discus); and Marcus Easterwood (100)
Otsego finished second in the Patrick Henry Invitational.
Otsego's winners were: Zion Richarson (200); Ludia Archambo (pole vault); and the 400 relay team of Candice Kleeman, Kylee Cheney, Kenzie Wilson and Richardson.
Otsego beat Eastwood, 73-50 in a dual meet.
Otsego's winners were: Kenzie Wilson (high jump); Emma Perry (shot and discus); Archambo (pole vault); Hanna Jennings (100 and 200 hurdles); Richardson (100); Julie Spencer (800) 400 relay team of Kleeman, Cheney, Wilson and Richardson; and 800 relay team of Kelly McBride, Hannah Snyder, Felicity Jinnings and Darian Messer.
