Prep Roundup: Rossford boys too much for Genoa (01-15-14)

Rossford’s boys basketball team improved to 5-1 in the Northern Buckeye Conference Tuesday with a 77-47
win over Genoa.
The Bulldogs are in sole possession of second place in the NBC, one-game behind Lake (6-0).
In other NBC games, it was Lake 78, Otsego 48; and Eastwood 68, Elmwood 41.
In a Northern Lakes League game, it was: Perrysburg 48, Anthony Wayne 46.
In a nonleague game, it was: Oak Harbor 54, Lakota 26.
In girls nonleague games, it was: Elmwood 51, Old Fort; 43; Rossford 49, Tiffin Columbian 45, in
overtime; and Fostoria St. Wendelin 43, Northwood 21.
BASKETBALL
BOYS
Rossford 77, Genoa 47
In Rossford, the Bulldogs scored 50 points in the second half after leading only 27-22 at the half.
Derek Mack and Brian Burks each had 15 points for the Bulldogs, 8-4 overall. Also for Rossford, Cota
Sinclair added 11 points and Marty Linthicum had 10.
Linthicum had nine rebounds, while Burks grabbed eight.
Eastwood 68, Elmwood 41
In Jerry City, Zach Jacoby had 16 points, Jordan Faykosh added 14 and Grant Peters had 12 as Eastwood
improved to 7-4, 3-2.
Aaron Arnold led Elmwood (1-9, 0-5) with 13 points seven rebounds, three assists and one steal, and Tayte
Lentz scored 11 points.
Oak Harbor 54, Lakota 26
In Kansas, Colin Timmons scored 12 points for Lakota (4-8).
GIRLS
Elmwood 51, Old Fort 43
In Old Fort, Elmwood rallied from deficits of 28-19 at the half and 36-34 after three periods to improve
to 8-4.
The Royals held Old Fort (10-3) to seven points in the fourth quarter.
Kristen Curtis and Samantha Ervin each had 17 points for Elmwood, which was 21-of-26 from the free-throw
line.
Ervin also had eight rebounds, while Curtis had six.
Rossford 49,
Tiffin Columbian 45, OT
In Tiffin, Rossford (8-4) escaped with a win as Julie Hotz made a steal and scored on a layup to put the
Bulldogs ahead to stay in the final minute of overtime.
Hotz finished with 16 points.
Fostoria St. Wendelin 43,
Northwood 21
In Northwood, Kamryn Troike scored 16 points to lead St. Wendelin.
Northwood fell to 1-10.

Eastwood 61, Fostoria 16
In Luckey, Eastwood won five of the seven contested matches and won six other matches by forfeit.
Otsego 66, BGHS 18
Otsego 49, Lake 26
In Tontogany, Otsego swept a three-team match.

In Genoa, CJ Ball (126 pounds) had his 100th career victory as Rossford won twice.
The loss was Genoa’s first in the NBC.

Eastwood wins
NOBC tournament
At Rossford Lanes, Eastwood won the Northern Ohio Buckeye Conference tournament.
The Eagles had a 3,638 total, while Rossford was third with 3,521.
Eastwood’s Kyle Waynick was the individual champion with games of 255 and 257 on the way to a 678 total.

Rossford’s Brennan Reynolds was second with a 629 series on games of 208, 211 and 210.
Waynick and Reynolds were named to the all-tournament team.
Rossford’s Mason Robinson had a 221 game, and Eastwood’s Mike Young had a 206 game.
Eastwood wins twice
At Tri-County Lanes in Woodville, Eastwood remained in first place in the NOBC with a 2,722-2,462 win
over Gibsonburg. The Eagles are 8-1 overall and in the conference.
Waynick had games of 224 and 240 for a 464 total, while Ben Tussing added a 202 game and Matt White had a
201.
At Harbor Lanes in Port Clinton, Eastwood was a 3,117-3,060 winner over the Redskins.
Waynick had games of 251 and 259 for a 510 total to lead Eastwood, while White had games of 224 and 221
for a 445 total.
Also for the Eagles, Mike Young had a 221 game and Andrew Dennis bowled a 202 game.
GIRLS
Eastwood finishes second
in NOBC tournament
At Rossford Lanes, Eastwood finished second in the NOBC tournament.
Port Clinton won with a 3,103 total, while Eastwood had a 2,967 total, Rossford was third with 2,767.
Eastwood’s Kat Przybylski was the individual champion with a 558 total on games of 188, 182 and 188.
Teammate Hannah Cook was fourth with a 496 total, including a 183 game.
Przybylski and Cook were named to the all-tournament team.
Rossford’s Taylor Moore had a 445 series, including a 170 game.
Eastwood splits
At Tri-County Lanes in Woodville, Eastwood improved to 7-2 overall and in the NOBC with a 2,186-2,166 win
over Gibsonburg.
Przybylski had a 349 total.
At Harbor Lanes in Port Clinton, Eastwood was a 2,538-2,325 loser to NOBC-leading Port Clinton.
Cook had a 224 game and a 416 total for Eastwood, and Przybylski had a 246 game and a 405 total.

Fostoria defeated Otsego 30-23, Gabby Trevino led Otsego with six points.
