Prep Roundup: Perrysburg volleyball wins NLL title (10-09-13) PDF Print E-mail

Ninth-ranked Perrysburg clinched the outright Northern Lakes League volleyball title with a 25-15, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21 win over Southview Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets are 16-2 overall and 13-0 in the NLL.
Perrysburg can complete a perfect league season Thursday when it hosts Maumee.
Meanwhile, Otsego earned at least a tie for the Northern Buckeye Conference volleyball title with a 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 win over Rossford.

Perrysburg wins
In Sylvania, Perrysburg's leaders in the win over the Cougars were: Audra Appold, 21 kills, 11 digs; Shannon Fastnacht, 11 kills, two blocks; Savannah Miller, 11 kills; Chloe Matuga, 40 assists; and Graesyn Pawlak, 17 digs.

Otsego tops Rossford
In Rossford, Otsego improved to 12-1 in the NBC. The Knights can clinch the outright championship Thursday with a win at Fostoria.
Rossford's leaders were: Karly Durco, three aces, eight kills, 19 digs; Julie Hotz, nine kills, two blocks, four aces, 16 digs; Margo Jackson, 14 digs; Maggie Leahy, 14 kills, 28 digs; Mikhala Dunne, 17 assists; and Danielle Meller, 16 assists, eight digs.

Elmwood wins
In Elmore, Elmwood downed Woodmore, 25-12, 25-12, 25-20 in the NBC match.
Leaders for the Royals were: Amanda Jones, 36 assists; Madison Arnold, 17 kills; Marissa Swavel, nine digs; Jasmine Marsh, 12 kills, six digs; and Ashley Versyer, nine kills.

BGHS sweeps Maumee
In Maumee, Bowling Green was a 25-10, 25-18, 25-15 winner over the Panthers in an NLL match.
Leading the Bobcats were: Courtney Spears, nine kills; Maddy Dunn, eight kills, nine digs; Mackenzie Dunn, 15 assists.

Otsego 7, Waite 0
In Toledo, Andrew Michaelis scored three goals to lead Otsego over Waite in a nonleague match.
Josh Tremonti, Josh Horseman, Diego Martinez and Lucas Burkard each scored a goal for the Knights, while Horseman and Fredrick Fink recorded one assist each.
Tony Pasty had two saves in goal for Otsego, 3-11-1 overall.

Springfield 2, BGHS 0
In Holland, Springfield blanked 13th-ranked Bowling Green in an NLL match.
Zach Desola had eight saves for the Bobcats.
BG finished the regular season 10-5-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the NLL.

Junior varsity results
Elmwood beat Woodmore, 25-11, 25-8.
Maumee defeated Bowling Green, 25-11, 25-23. Maggie Venis led BG with nine kills, while Britany Finger had five kills. Kinsey Kale recorded 11 assists.
Perrysburg beat  Southview, 25-14, 25-8.
Otsego beat Rossford, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19.
Bowling Green beat Napoleon, 25-18, 25-11. Lauryn Dangler had 13 assists for BG, while Kayla Schrader, Alexis Kisor and Taylor Dunn-Roberts each had three kills.
Bowling Green beat Napoleon, 25-11, 25-8. Kloe Atwood had 13 points and five aces and three kills for the Bobcats, while Callie Scheier had eight assists and Julia Rothweiler and Angelina Mendieta each had three kills.
