Prep Roundup: Perrysburg softball beats BG (05-07-13) PDF Print E-mail

Perrysburg's softball team evened its record in the Northern Lakes League Monday with a  6-2 win over Bowling Green.
The Yellow Jackets are 9-10 overall and 4-4 in the NLL.
Kayleen Jurski picked up the win and was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
Other top hitters for Perrysburg were: Deanna Granata, 3-for-3; Raegen Vickers, 2-for-4, two runs scored.

Elmwood 8, Rossford 3
In Rossford, Elmwood improved to 15-4 overall and  6-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.
Five players went 2-for-4 for Elmwood: Olivia Myers (triple, two RBI); Madison Arnold; Rebecca Harvey (two doubles, RBI); Tori Hillard (double, RBI) and Ragan Yarnell (two RBI). Miranda Benschoter was the winning pitcher.
For Rossford (14-5, 4-3), Jessica Kulczak was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Eastwood 18, Otsego 6, 5 innings
In Tontogany, Eastwood pounded 18 hits and Otsego committed five errors as the Eagles improved to 19-2 overall and 6-2 in the NBC.
Otsego dropped to 3-3 in the league.
Leading hitters for Eastwood were: Cassidy Rolf, 3-for-4, two triples; Emily Helm, 3-for-4; Mackenzie Albright, 3-for-5, triple; Ally Gable, 2-for-4; Krista Jennings, 2-for-3; and Anna Rahrig, 2-for-5.
Otsego's top hitters were: Savannah Schwind, 2-for-3; Taylor Bowen, 2-for-2; Natalie Wright, 2-for-3; and Danielle Lashaway, double.

Lake 5, Fostoria 4
In Fostoria, Sumer Woodruff had the game-winning RBI in the top of the seventh inning as Lake improved to 3-4 in the NBC.
Emma Materni picked up the win for the Flyers (10-10 overall).
Top hitters for Lake were: Jessie Densic, 2-for-3; and Kayla Encalado, double, RBI.

North Baltimore 12,
St. Wendelin 10
In Fostoria, the two Midland Athletic teams combined for 30 hits but it was North Baltimore that improved to 10-6, 5-1.
Kelcie Bean picked up the win and was also 3-for-3.
Other top hitters for North Baltimore were: Megan Wright, 4-for-5, two doubles; Kelsey Gazarek, 2-for-5; Courtney Bretz, 3-for-5, double, two RBI; Jasmine Bretz, 2-for-5, RBI; Nique Buchanan, 2-for-4, two RBI.

Elmwood 12, Rossford 1,
6 innings
In Rossford, Elmwood improved to 3-4 in the NBC and 9-9 overall.
Zach Foster earned the win for Elmwood and had nine strikeouts.
Dylan Benschoter was 2-for-3 for the Royals and Austin Hoiles had a double and three RBI.
Ryan Reed was 2-for-2 with a double for Rossford (4-14 overall).

Lake 13, Fostoria 3, 5 innings
In Fostoria, Lake had nine hits and capitalized on six Redmen errors to pick up an NBC win.
The Flyers are 10-7, 5-2.
Casey Blank earned the win for Lake.
Jayce Vancena was 3-for-4 with three RBI and teammate Adam Duncan was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

North Baltimore 12,
St. Wendelin 2, 5 innings
In Fostoria, North Baltimore stayed undefeated in the MAL. The Tigers are 11-7, 6-0.
Sean Watson picked up the win and had eight strikeouts.
Top hitters for North Baltimore were: Zach Stewart, single, two RBI: Jordan Watson, single, double, RBI and three runs scored; Dalton Ishmael, single, two RBI; Brock Boyer, single, RBI; Brandon Solly, single, RBI.

BGHS 4, Northview 0
Bowling Green beat Northview Friday in a Northern Lakes League game.
Jeremy Chambers was 2-for-4 and Andrew Fisher got the win as Northview had only four hits.

Lake 11, Rossford 1,
5 innings
In Millbury, Lake notched another NBC win on Friday.
Brad Ackerman pitched a two-hitter and also had a two-run home run.
Other top hitters for Lake were: Connor Bowen, 3-for-3, triple, home run, five RBI; Spencer Schultz, 3-for-3, two doubles.

Junior High results
Elmwood was second in the Royal Invitational with 153 points. Sandusky won the six-team meet with 178 points.
Elmwood's winners were: Andrew Arnold, shot (41-5) and discus (110-5); Cheynne Jenkins, long jump (16-7 3/4 ); Dylan Hinton, 400 (59.39); and the 400 sprint medley team of Jordan Thrash, Calvin Thatcher, Dakota Kimble, Kyle Dibling (57.50).
Elmwood finished with 59 points to beat Gibsonburg. 55, and Otsego. 42.
Otsego's winners were: Cody Vance (high jump); Marcus Easterwood (100).
Napoleon beat Bowling Green, 66-48. BG's Nick Lane set a school record with a throw of 137-1. Lane also won the shot put.
Other BG winners were: Noah Cook (100); Matt Kramer (400); Noah Cotterman (200); the 400 relay team of Brayden Leffel, Cook, Cotterman, and  Adam Furnas.
Elmwood won the six-team the Royal Invitational with 170 points
Elmwood's winners were: Allison Arnold, 1,600 (6:04.0) and 800 (2:48.72); Brionna Camden, 400 (1:09.51); Katie Henderson, 100 hurdles (19.24); Jaela Kynard, long jump (13-5); Savannah Harvey, discus (79-8); the 1,600 relay team of Emilee Kunkleman, Zoe Shank, Taylor Barnhisel, Cheyanne Parsons (4:59.95); and the 400 spring medley team of Harvey, Katelyn King, Kendra Stewart, Traci Morlock (1:03.54).
Otsego finished with 75 points to beat Elmwood, 43, and  Gibsonburg, 38.
Otsego's winners were: Emma Perry (shot and discus); Kenzie Wilson (high jump); Lydia Archambo (pole vault); Zion Richardson (100 and 200); 400 relay team of Candice Kleeman, Wilson, Kennedy Niceley and Richardson; 800 relay team of Kelly McBride, Felicity Jinnings, Hannah Snyder and Darian Messer; 1600 relay team of Mason Niceley, Kennedy Niceley, Snyder and Maggie Long.
Bowling Green beat Napoleon, 78 1/2-35 1/2. Cassidy Williford set a school record in the 200, winning in 27.13. She also won the 100.
Other BG winners were: Charlee Carol (long jump); Jenna Schonter (800); Kendal Glandorff (100 and 200 hurdles); Natalie Applegate (1,600);  Breann Burkhart (400); the 400 relay team of Glandorf, Kelsey Remis, Micaela Schempf, and Williford and the 800 relay team of Cable, Micaela Schempf, Applegate, and Remis.
