Prep roundup: Perrysburg boys win, girls lose (12-21-13) PDF Print E-mail

Perrysburg’s boys remained undefeated with a win over Sandusky Perkins Saturday night, while the Yellow Jacket girls dropped their first game, 41-34 at Solon.
In other boys games, it was: Eastwood 64, Liberty-Benton 63 in overtime; Otsego 39, Cardinal Stritch 38; Laktoa 46, Vanlue 27; and North Baltimore 58, Northwood 31.
In other girls games, it was: Arcadia 70, Elmwood 65; Central Catholic 49, Lake 37; North Baltimore 39, Northwood 29; and Anthony Wayne 70, Otsego 36.

BASKETBALL
BOYS
Perrysburg 70,
Sandusky Perkins 36
In Sandusky, Perrysburg held Perkins to 16 second-half points en route to a nonleague win.
Nick Moschetti led Perrysburg (5-0 overall) with 18 points, while Nate Patteson added 14.

Eastwood 64, Liberty-Benton 63, OT
In Luckey, Jake Schmeltz’s free throw with no time left gave Eastwood a nonleague win.
Schmeltz was fouled on a shot as overtime ended. He missed the first three throw, but made the second for the win.
Eastwood trailed 32-17 at the half and closed to within 43-37 after three periods.
Schmeltz scored a game-high 24 points for Eastwood (3-3), while Grant Peters added 17 points and Jordan Faykosh scored 12.

Otsego 39,
Cardinal Stritch 38
In Tontogany, Jalen Myers’ 3-point basket with 10 seconds remaining gave Otsego a nonconference win.
The basket capped a comeback that saw the Knights rally from a 35-29 deficit in the fourth quarter.
Otsego is 4-2 overall.
Austin Adams led Stritch (2-2) with 13 points and Austin Pratt added 11.

North Baltimore 58,
Northwood 31
In North Baltimore, three players scored in double figures as the Tigers posted anonleague win.
Lane Bishop scored 14 points, while Chad Wright and Jacob Frost added 12 for NB, which improved to 3-4 overall.
Jay Johnson led Northwood (0-5) with 11 points.

Lakota 46, Vanlue 27
In Vanlue, Colin Timmons scored 14 points to lead the Raiders (3-4) in a nonleague win.
Josh Kirkpatrick added 10 points for Lakota.

GIRLS
Solon 41, Perrysburg 34
In Solon, the Comets scored the game’s final seven points to pull away from a 34-34 tie with three minutes left.
Sarah Baer scored 13 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Perrysburg (8-1), while Allex Brown added 13 points 10 rebounds.

Arcadia 70, Elmwood 65
In Arcadia, Courtey Cramer scored 32 points and Molly Glick added 20 points, 12 rebounds, eight steals and four assists as the Redkins rallied from a 36-61 halftime deficit in a nonleague game.
Kristen Curtis had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Elmwood (5-4), while Marissa Swavel chipped in with 18 points and Sam Ervin scored 12.
Arcadia is 6-1 overall.

Central Catholic 49, Lake 37
In Millbury, Central Catholic held a 19-10 advantage in the third quarter to take control in a nonleague win.
Alexis Hansen led Lake (4-5) with 11 points.

Anthony Wayne 70,
Otsego 36
In Whitehouse, Otsego trailed 36-13 at halftime in the nonleague game.
Abby Hesselschwardt led the Knights (5-4) with 17 points, while Morgan Smoyer added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

North Baltimore 39,
Northwood 29
In Northwood, Olivia Frost scored 11 points to lead North Baltimore for a nonleague win.
Allison Roach led Northwood with nine points.
NB is 3-6 overall, while Northwood is 1-6.
