Prep Roundup: Lakota softball wins sectional title (05-15-13) PDF Print E-mail

Lakota's softball team slipped past Tiffin Calvert, 2-1 to win a Division IV sectional title Wednesday at Old Fort.
The Raiders scored twice in the first inning and Morgan Gangwer pitched a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking none to help Lakota hang on for the win.
Alexandra Hovis was 3-for-3 for Lakota, Gangwer and Sam Miller were both 2-for-3.
The Raiders advanced to a district semifinal next Wednesday at Fostoria High School starting at 5 p.m.
Lakota is 12-8 overall.

Rossford 14, Fostoria 1
In Fostoria, Rossford improved to 18-6 overall and 8-3 in the Northern Buckeye Conference.
Margo Jackson was 4-for-5 with a home run, double and three runs batted in to lead Rossford's 13-hit attack.
The Bulldogs' other leading hitters were: Kelly Swope, 2-for-3, two doubles, two RBI; Lyndsey Skala, 3-for-3, three RBI; and Mandi Longeway, 2-for-2, RBI.

Gibsonburg 7,
Northwood 3
In Northwood, Gibsonburg was aided by eight Northwood errors in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference victory.
Katie Vancs and Bri Crispen each hit a double for Northwood, 12-12 overall and 8-2 in the TAAC.

Rossford 11, Fostoria 4
In Fostoria, Rossford scored nine times in the first two inning on the way to the NBC victory.
Ryan Reed hit a home run and two doubles for the Bulldogs while Tyler Crispen hit a single and a double.
The Bulldogs are 6-16 overall and 4-6 in the NBC.

Northwood 4, Gibsonburg 1
In Northwood, the Rangers scored four runs in the fourth inning to help secure the TAAC win. Gibsonburg was limited to two hits.
Jacob Davenport, Jacob Zieroff and John Segura each had a hit and an RBI for the Rangers, 14-9 overall and 6-3 in the TAAC.

Vanlue 57, New Riegel 54
North Baltimore 49
In North Baltimore, Vanlue won the triangular, edging New Riegel by three points.
North Baltimore's AJ Hotaling won the pole vault, 1,600 and 3,200.

North Baltimore 55,
Vanlue 55, New Riegel 39
In North Baltimore, North Baltimore won eight events on the way to the triangular win.
Lindsey Davis (high jump, 200), Megan Ernsberger (100 and 300 hurdles) and Mariah Leonard (pole vault, 3,200) each won two individual events for the Tigers.
