Prep Roundup: Lake softball hands Eastwood first loss (4-26-13) PDF Print E-mail

Lake handed Eastwood’s softball team its first loss of the season on Friday, 2-1, in a Northern Buckeye Conference matchup.
The Flyers improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the NBC, while the Eagles dropped to 14-1, 2-1.
Lake manufactured two runs in the sixth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. Emma Materni, two strikeouts and two walks, collected the win. She also was was 2-for-2 with a double.
Other top hitters for Lake were: Sammy Whiteman, 1-for-3, two RBI; and Allie Kontak, 2-for-4.
Diana Bushman had a home run for Eastwood in the fifth.

Napoleon 9, BGHS 4
In Napoleon, Bowling Green dropped a Northern Lakes League game.
The Bobcats collected eight hits, including a double by Reagan Morman and two singles each by Lily Murnen and Emily Sidle.

Lakota 9,
Fostoria St. Wendelin 1
In Fostoria, Lakota tallied 11 hits in a Midland Athletic League victory.
Top hitters for Lakota were: Alaina Bickford,  2-for-3, home run, double, four RBI; Nikkia Cooper, 3-for-4, RBI; pitcher Morgan Gangwer, 3-for-4, two RBI; and Carlee Conrad, 2-for-3.

BASEBALL
Perrysburg 6, Southview 5
In Sylvania, third-ranked Perrysburg held off a seventh-inning rally by Southview to remain undefeated in the NLL.
Perrysburg is 11-1 , 4-0.
Mark Delas (five strikeouts, four walks) earned the win and AJ Stockwell had the save.
Austin Lee was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, and Spencer George was 2-for-3.

Otsego 11, Rossford 1
In Tontogany, Otsego pounded 13 hits to improve to 3-0 in the NBC.
Otsego’s Nate Hackworth threw a two-hitter and was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Other top hitters for Otsego were: Collin Austin, 3-for-4, two RBI; Hunter Donald, 2-for-3, two RBI; Deven Vollmar, 2-for-4, double, three RBI; Max Miller, 2-for-3, RBI; and Josh Williams, 2-for-3, double.

Eastwood 3, Lake 1
In Millbury, Eastwood improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in the NBC.
Grant Peters picked up the win for Eastwood and Zach Coffield was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Lakota 6,
Fostoria St. Wendelin 3
In Fostoria, a four-run third inning gave Lakota an MAL win. The Raiders are 6-5, 3-1.
Jack Raymond (five strikeouts, one walk) earned the win and Nick Watts (three strikeouts, two walks) got the save.
Top hitters for Lakota were: Nathan Ray, 2-for-3, double, RBI; Tiger Jaso, 2-for-3, double, RBI; and Austin Payne, 1-for-2, double.

Ryan Motsinger was BG’s lone winner in an NLL match.
