Three players scored in double figures for Lake in a 99-62 Northern Buckeye Conference win over Genoa Thursday. In other boys games it was: Otsego 64, Eastwood 55; Elmwood 45, Fostoria 41; and Woodmore 55, Rossford 49. In girls games it was: Fostoria St. Wendelin 50, North Baltimore 48; Fremont St. Joseph 62, Lakota 34; and Danbury 45, Northwood 13 BOYS Lake 99, Genoa 62 In Genoa, Lake's Jayce Vancena scored 24 points, Jared Rettig added 19, and Connor Bowen contributed 15 points. Luke Rightnowar led Genoa with 19 points. Lake is 13-2 overall and 6-2 in the NBC. Genoa is 2-11 and 0-9. Elmwood 45, Fostoria 41 In Fostoria, Elmwood slipped past Fostoria in the final minute of a NBC game as Zach Foster made three critical free throws down the stretch. Austin Hoiles led the Royals with 12 points. Foster scored 11 points, and Aaron Arnold added 10 points. Dominique Fuller led the Redmen with 12 points and added seven rebounds. Elmwood is 9-5 overall and 4-4 in the NBC. Fostoria is 2-11 and 1-7. Woodmore 55, Rossford 49 In Rossford, the Wildcats held off the Bulldogs in an NBC matchup. Rossford remained in control of the game going into the second half until Woodmore went ahead by nine points in the third quarter. Woodmore's Harrison Wooten had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Derek Mack and Brian Burks led the Bulldogs in scoring with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Rossford's Hector Aguirre had 14 boards. Woodmore is 6-8 overall and 4-4 in the NBC. Rossford is 7-8 and 5-3. GIRLS Fostoria St. Wendelin 50, North Baltimore 48 In Fostoria, St. Wendelin slipped past North Baltimore in a Midland Athletic League. NB's Megan Wright led all scorers while producing a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Olivia Frost added 11 points for NB. St. Wendelin's Colleen Fondessy scored 15 points. Fostoria St. Wendelin is 11-7 overall and 4-3 in the MAL. North Baltimore is 8-9, 2-4. Fremont St. Joseph 62, Lakota 34 In Fremont, St. Joseph beat Lakota in an MAL game. Cassidy Frank made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points for St. Joseph and teammate Brennan Reardon had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Stephanie Miller led Lakota with 11 points. Fremont St. Joseph is 6-10 overall and 2-5 in the MAL. Lakota is 3-15 and 1-7. Danbury 45, Northwood 13 In Lakeside, Danbury rolled past Northwood in a Toledo Area Athletic Conference game. Danbury is 9-8 overall and 8-2 in the TAAC. Northwood is 2-14, 2-8. SWIMMING BOYS Findlay 121, BGHS 52 In Findlay, Bowling Green's Peter Burroughs won the 100 butterfly (54.60) in a dual meet against Findlay. The Bobcats had nine second-place efforts in the meet. GIRLS Findlay 107, BGHS 78 In Findlay, Bowling Green won six events in a dual meet against Findlay. BG's Emmy Sehmann won the 50 freestyle (25.00) and 100 butterfly (1:04.76) and also swam on two winning relay teams. Sehmann, Mallory Glenn, Nicole Castor and Mikayla Mueller won the 200 medley (2:00.61). Glenn, Mueller, Sehmann and Ashley Halleck won the 400 freestyle relay (4:00.78). Also Glenn won the 500 freestyle (5:51.11) and teammate Larissa Leck won the 100 breast stroke (1:23.52). WRESTLING Anthony Wayne 50, BGHS 25 In Whitehouse, Anthony Wayne won six matches by pin on the way to the Northern Lakes League victory. Junior High results SEVENTH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL Eastwood defeated Lake 47-31. Eastwood's leaders were: Tyler Schmeltz, Logan Frobose and Grant Hirzel. Leading scorers for Lake were Ahmad Smith with 20 points and Blake Osborn with 7. Lake is 4-4. Eastwood beat Woodmore, 46-18. Eastwood's leaders were: Hunter Slattman, Zach Henline and Cade Boos. Eastwood is 5-1. Bowling Green opened play in the Northern Lakes League tournament with a 34-23 win over Springfield. Kaleb Fair scored 15 points for the Bobcats, 2-12 overall. EIGHTH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL Lake defeated Eastwood 45-23. Leading scorers for Lake were Jimmy Urias with 18 points and Jacob Rettig with 10 points. Lake is 6-2. Elmwood defeated Genoa, 47-33. Leaders for Elmwood were: Tayte Lentz, Andrew Arnold and Nate Uzelac. SEVENTH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL Lake beat Eastwood, 24-13. Madelyn Hodson had eight points for Lake and Taylor Besgrove scored six points. Perrysburg opened its season with a 26-10 win over Springfield. Ashlynn Brown scored 10 points for Perrysburg. Bowling Green opened its season with a 23-20 win over Gateway. Holly Roe scored 10 points for BG and Cailyn Overhulse added six points. EIGHTH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL Springfield beat Perrysburg, 40-32 in the season opener. Mariah Copeland had 10 points for Perrysburg and Bailey Scheckelhoff scored seven points. Lake beat Eastwood, 33-5. Leading scorers for Lake were: Sydnee Behlmer with eight points; and Jessica Orth with seven points. Bowling Green opened its season with a 53-30 win over Gateway. Kendal Glandorff scored 26 points and Cassidy Williford added eight for BG. |
