Maria Horrigan

Maria Horrigan was impressive again Wednesday night.
The Bowling Green junior won the pole vault and the long jump during the Northern Lakes League track and
field meet at Maumee High School.
Horrigan won the pole vault for the third straight season by clearing 11-6 to break her own meet record
of 11-3 when she was a freshman.
Horrigan’s best this season is 12-9, which is the best in the state in Division I so far this season. She
finished third in the state meet in 2012 and tied for 13th last season.
Horrigan also went 16-3/4 to win the long jump for the second straight season after a fourth-place finish
in 2012.
Perrysburg’s girls won two events.
The Yellow Jackets’ 3,200 relay team of junior Jordan Doore, senior Taylor Monheim, sophomore Alexis Kemp
and senior Courtney Clody won in a meet-record time of 9:17.97. The previous record of 9:23.82 was set
by Northview in 2012.
Perrysburg also won the event last year, with Doore, Monheim and Clody returning from that team.
The Yellow Jackets’ other first-place finish went to junior Gabrielle Jett, who threw 111-9 to win the
discus.
The meet concludes Friday.
