Genoa’s baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday t
o post an 11-10 win over Lake in a Northern Buckeye Conference game.
The loss prevented Lake from clinching the outright NBC championship.
Lake, 24-3 overall, is 12-1 in the NBC and has already clinched a title tie.
The Flyers still can clinch the outright title with a win at home May 28 when they host Eastwood. The
game finishes Lake’s NBC season.
Genoa has two NBC games remaining.
Lake’s leading hitters were: Connor Bowen, 3-for-4, two doubles, RBI; Jayce Vancena, Anthony Pratt, both
2-for-3. RBI; and Nick Walsh, 2-for-4, three RBI.
Eastwood 9, Woodmore 3
In Luckey, Ryan Mang was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI to help Eastwood to an NBC win.
Perrysburg 2, Maumee 0
In Perrysburg, Mark Delas pitched a three-hitter as the Yellow Jackets improved to 19-7 overall and 10-3
in the Northern Lakes League.
The Yellow Jackets can clinch no worse than a tie for the league championship Friday with a win at
Bowling Green.
Delas was 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the first and Chaz Westfall hit an RBI triple in the fourth. AJ
Stockwell also was for 2-for-3 for Perrysburg.
Delas struck out six and walked one.
NB 6, Tiffin Calvert 3
In Tiffin, North Baltimore scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth to overcome a 3-1 deficit and
improve to 6-3 in the Midland Athletic League.
NB’s Zach Stewart had two singles and an RBI, while Brock Boyer pitched a seven-hitter and allowed two
earned runs. The Tigers are 12-14 overall.
Northwood 2, Ottawa Hills 0
In Northwood, Stephen Sutton pitched a five-hitter and hit a two-run single in the second as the Rangers
posted a Toledo Area Athletic Conference win.
Sutton and Myles Habel both were 2-for-3, while Mike Vallejo was 1-for-3 with a double.
The Rangers are 10-14 overall and 7-3 in the TAAC.

Eastwood 7, Woodmore 1,

In Woodville, Eastwood scored six times in the 10th to improve to 25-2 overall and 11-1 in the NBC.
The game was the completion of a suspended contested from earlier this season. The game resumed with the
score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth.
Eastwood’s Sam Shirling pitched a four-hitter, striking out 16 and walking one. Shirling also was
2-for-4.
The Eagles’ other leading hitters were: Mackenzie Albright, 3-for-4; and Anna Rahrig and Marissa Tudor,
both 2-for-5.
The Eagles lead the NBC by a half-game over Elmwood (10-1).

Van Buren 6, NB 3
In Elida, Van Buren (15-12) scored all of its runs in the bottom of the fifth to break open a scoreless
game against NB (10-14).
NB’s leading hitters were: Cheyenne Hernandez, 2-for-3; and Kelcie Bean and Hanna Brian, both 1-for-3,
double.

Eastwood 3,200 boys relay wins
In Division II at Oak Harbor, Eastwood’s 3,200 boys relay team won a district championship.
Gabe Fredericks, Logan Baugher, Noah Smith and Tim Hoodlebrink had a time of 8:01.50 to advance to next
week’s regional at Lexington High School.
In Division II at Defiance High School, Otsego’s Cole Gorski cleared 15-6 to win the pole vault.

BOYS TRACK
Bowling Green won the Northern Lakes League meet. BG’s winners were: the 400 relay team of Dible,
Hoehner, Nagle and Steffen; the 1,600 relay team of Steffen, Jackson, Doren, and Fair; and the 800 relay
team of Hoehner, Nagle, Jackson, and Powers.
GIRLS TRACK
BG finished fourth in the NLL meet. BG’s Jenna Woodmore won the long jump.
