Prep Roundup: Elmwood softball beats Otsego, plays Eastwood for NBC title (05-28-14)

Elmwood’s softball team earned a chance to play for the outright Northern Buckeye Conference championship
Monday.
The Royals posted a 15-5 five-inning win at Otsego to move into tie for the NBC lead with Eastwood with
one game remaining. PHOTO GALLERY
Elmwood and
Eastwood both are 12-1 and they finish the conference season with a head-to-head meeting Thursday at
Eastwood.
The Royals are 23-3 overall, including a 9-4 win against Eastwood at home May 1 in their first meeting.

Against Otsego, Elmwood’s leading hitters were: Miranda Benschoter, 2-for-3, two RBI; Olivia Myers,
2-for-4, two runs, two RBI; Rebecca Harvey, 2-for-2, triple, two runs, three RBI; Lindsay George,
2-for-4, double, two RBI; Kristi Reiser, 3-for-4, triple, three runs; and Chelsie Schmitz, 1-for-4,
double, RBI.
Benschoter pitched a five-hitter, striking out four and walking two.
Otsego’s leading hitters were: Emma Perry, 2-for-2, double, run; and Tayler Bowen, 1-for-3, run, two RBI.

BASEBALL
BGHS 5, Southview 3
In Sylvania, Bowling Green scored four times in the first and once in the third to win a Northern Lakes
League game.
All of Southview’s runs came in the seventh.
BG’s leading hitters were: Andy Fisher, 2-for-3, double, triple, run; and Hogan Pash, 2-for-2, two RBI.

Fisher, Joe Cohen and Trey Walker combined to pitch a five-hitter for BG.
Fisher went the first 6 2/3 innings, allowed no runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.
BG is 15-14 overall and 4-10 in the NLL.
