Miranda Benschoter and Rebecca Harvey combined to go 7-for-8 Monday to lead Elmwood’s softball team to a
12-2, five-inning win over visiting Delta in a Division III district quarterfinal. PHOTO GALLERY
Benschoter
was 4-for-4 with a run, and Harvey was 3-for-4 with four runs and five RBI. Harvey doubled and homered,
and Benschoter doubled.
Elmwood’s other leading hitters were: Madison Arnold, 2-for-4, triple, run, two RBI; and Jaela Kynard,
2-for-3, double, two runs.
Benschoter pitched a six-hitter, striking out six and walking none.
The Royals, 18-3 overall, face Evergreen Wednesday at 5 p.m. in a district semifinal at Maumee’s Rolf
Park.
REGULAR SEASON
Rossford 3, Genoa 2,
10 innings
In Genoa, Kelly Swope doubled in Margo Jackson with the winning run in the 10th.
Jackson reached on a single.
Genoa scored twice in the second, but Rossford tied the game on Swope’s two-run home run in the sixth.

Jackson was 3-for-5, while Swope was 2-for-5. Rossford is 18-6 overall and 8-4 in the Northern Buckeye
Conference.
Otsego 12, Lake 6
Otsego 10, Lake 4
In Millbury, Otsego won the completion of a suspended game and followed that with a win in a
regularly-scheduled game in the NBC.
In the first game, Otsego’s leading hitters were: Savannah Schwind, 4-for-4, double; Kylie Asmus,
4-for-4, two RBI; Perry, 2-for-4, two RBI; Kimberlin Norman, 3-for-4, four RBI; and Nicole Thomas,
triple, RBI.
Lake’s leading hitters were: Megan Williams, 2-for-4, double; and Sydnee Behlmer, 2-for-3, double, two
RBI.
In the second game, Otsego’s leading hitters were: Tayler Bowen, 2-for-4, three RBI; Thomas, 2-for-2, two
RBI; and Norman, 2-for-4, three RBI.
Williams was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Lake.
NB’s Bean
pitches no-hitter
In Findlay, Kelcie Bean pitched a no-hitter in North Baltimore’s 10-0 six-inning nonleague win over
Liberty-Benton.
Bean struck out seven and walked two, and was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
NB’s other leading hitters were: Rachel Peters, single, two RBI; Makayla Rein, 2-for-4; and Makayla
Light, 2-for-4, two RBI. NB is 10-13.
BASEBALL
REGULAR SEASON
BGHS 3, Southview 2
Mason Apple doubled in Clark Mayberry with the winning run in the third as BG posted a Northern Lakes
League victory.
Mayberry reached when he was hit by a pitch.
BG (14-11, 3-9) took the lead in the first on Spencer Schultz’s two-run double, but Southview tied the
game with two unearned runs in the third.
Ricky Riggs was 2-for-4 for BG, while David Fouts was 2-for-3.
BG’s Mitch Cromley pitched a four-hitter, striking out eight and walking none.
Wauseon 3, Perrysburg 2
In Wauseon, the Indians scored once in the third and twice in the fourth to win a battle of ranked teams.

Perrysburg’s Connor Jordan hit a two-run double in the seventh.
The Yellow Jackets, ranked 18th in Division I, are 17-7. Wauseon is ranked eighth in Division II.
Lake clinches tie
for NBC title
In Millbury, Lake clinched a tie for the NBC championship with a 9-1, 6-0 sweep of Otsego.
The first game was the completion of a suspended game.
The Flyers, 24-2 overall, are 12-0 in the NBC and can clinch the outright championship with a win at
Genoa Wednesday or at Eastwood May 28.
Genoa has two NBC losses and every other team has three or more. Otsego is 6-5.
In the first game, Lake’s leading hitters were: Adam Duncan, 2-for-4, RBI; Cody Witt, 2-for-5; Brad
Ackerman, 2-for-3, RBI; and Aaron Witt, 2-for-4, two runs.
In the second game, Lake’s Todd Walters pitched a five-hitter with six strikeouts.
The Flyers’ leading hitters were: Duncan, 2-for-3, RBI; Witt, 2-for-4, two runs; Jayce Vancena, 2-for-4;
and Aaron Witt, 2-for-4, RBI.
Three different players had hits for Otsego in the first game, and five different Knights had hits in the
second game.
Elmwood 3, Eastwood 2
In Luckey, Dylan Hall walked and later scored the winning run on a two-out throwing error in the seventh.

Elmwood scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh after Eastwood scored twice in the first.
Phillip Buckingham doubled and Jarrett Childress had an RBI for Elmwood, 11-12 overall and 4-6 in the
NBC.
NB 9, Vanlue 1
In Vanlue, Jacob Frost allowed one run and struck out four over the first six innings as NB posted a
nonleague win.
NB’s leading hitters were: Frost, two singles, two RBI; Zach Stewart, Brock Boyer and Garrett Boyer, two
singles each; and Tyler Trumbull, single, two RBI. NB is 11-14.
