Prep roundup: Elmwood boys, Eastwood and Northwood girls win (12-27-11) PDF Print E-mail

Elmwood’s boys, and Eastwood’s and Northwood’s girls all posted non-league wins in non-league high school basketball action Tuesday night.
Elmwood was a 64-51 winner over Old Fort, Eastwood recorded a 37-33 win over Swanton and Northwood was a 56-42 winner over Toledo Woodward.
In another boys game, it was: Springfield 61, Rossford 56.
In other girls games, it was: Whitmer 50, Lake 34; and Perrysburg 72, Lima Shawnee 52.


BOYS
Elmwood 64, Old Fort 51
In Jerry City, Zach Foster scored 17 points, Tyler Rosendale had 16 and Jeff Vanscoder added 15 as Elmwood moved to 2-3 overall.
Vanscoder also had nine rebounds, while Rosendale handed out eight assists. The Royals shot 25-of-50 from the field and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Elmwood built a 36-26 lead at the half.
Dalton Perry led Old Fort (4-3) with 24 points.

Springfield 61, Rossford 56
In Rossford, Springfield rallied from a 28-25 halftime deficit to improve to 3-4.
Caleb Bucher and Anthony Jones each had 14 points for Springfield, and Ty Shy and Curt Hassell both added 11.
Drew Brock led Rossford (1-5) with 11 points, while Joe Hotz and Manny Durden each had 10. Rossford’s Hector Aguirre had 10 rebounds.

GIRLS
Eastwood 37, Swanton 33
In Swanton, Alanna Heestand made five 3-point field goals en route to a game-high 19 points to lead Eastwood.
The Eagles took a 33-27 lead after three quarters. The game was tied at 18 at the half. Eastwood also led 12-0 in the first quarter.
Eastwood’s Courtney Rolf had eight rebounds.
Both teams are 2-6.

Whitmer 50, Lake 34
In Toledo, Autumn Jones scored 21 points as Whitmer took a 23-13 lead at the half.
Jordyn Taylor led Lake (5-3) with 14 points.

Northwood 56, Woodward 42
In Toledo, Sandy Koch led three Northwood players in double figures with 17 points.
The Rangers (4-2) also received 16 points from Anna Raymond and 15 points from Becca Bisbee.
Northwood held a 30-20 lead at the half.

Whitmer beat Perrysburg, 29-28. Olivia Stout scored nine points and Lauren Piezer added eight for Perrysburg.
