Prep Roundup: Eastwood softball edges Woodmore (05-07-14)

Eastwood’s softball team improved to 18-1 overall and 6-1 in the Northern Buckeye Conference Tuesday with
a 1-0 win over Woodmore. PHOTO GALLERY

The Eagles scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to back the four-hit pitching of Sam Shirling, who
struck out seven and walked one.
Cassidy Rolf scored for Eastwood. She reached on an error, took third on Anna Rahrig’s single and scored
on Marissa Tudor’s sacrifice fly.
Rahrig was 2-for-3 with a double, while Mackenzie Albright also doubled.
Maddie Phillips pitched a five-hitter for Woodmore, 6-3 in the NBC. She struck out 10 and walked none.

Rossford 10, Fostoria 0,

In Fostoria, Rossford scored five runs in the second and sixth innings for an NBC win.
Margo Jackson and Kelly Swope were each 2-for-3 with a double for the Bulldogs.
Rossford is 15-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
Northwood 8,

In Northwood, Alyson Seibert picked up the win on the mound and was 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI in
the Toledo Area Athletic Conference win.
The Rangers scored four times in the sixth inning to extend a 4-3 lead.
Northwood is 7-8 overall and 4-3 in the TAAC.
Arcadia 14,
North Baltimore 7
In North Baltimore, Arcadia overcame a 3-2 deficit with five runs in the fifth and sixth innings in the
MAL contest.
Rachel Peters led NB with a 3-for-4 effort. She also had two RBI.
Cheyenne Hernandez and Makayla Rein each had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers, 5-11 overall and 1-4 in
the MAL.
BASEBALL
Napoleon 4, BGHS 0
In Napoleon, Clark Mayberry’s single was BG’s only hit Monday.
The Bobcats are 11-8 overall and 2-6 in the NLL.
Rossford 13, Fostoria 9
In Fostoria Tuesday, Rossford built a 10-4 lead by the end of the third inning en route to an NBC win.

Collin Bohland, Noah Asmus, Ryan Niese and Erik Davis each had two hits for the Bulldogs (8-9 overall).
Asmus was also the winning pitcher.
Chris Hampton led Fostoria (12-7, 3-4), which scored four times in the seventh, with two singles and a
double. Kaleb Bemis added two hits.
Northwood 21, Emmanuel

In Northwood, the Rangers had 13 hits to improve to 8-11 overall and 5-2 in the TAAC.
Northwood’s leading hitters were: Myles Habel, 3-for-4, double, four RBI; Jake Davenport, 2-for-4, two
doubles, RBI; and Evan LaPlante, 2-for-3, three RBI.
Habel’s double was his single-season school record 12th.
North Baltimore 8, Arcadia 3
In North Baltimore, Andrew Hollinger pitched a four hitter and struck out seven in a nonleague game.
NB scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to add to a 2-1 lead.
Brock Boyer led the Tigers (8-12, 3-2) with two doubles and three RBI.

Elmwood finishes second
In Jerry City, Elmwood finished second in a four-team meet.
Lima Perry won with 101, followed by Elmwood 80, Arcadia 47 and New Riegel 12.
Eastwood sweeps
In Fremont, Eastwood scored 114 points to beat Fremont Ross with 62 and Woodmore with 23.5.
Northwood finishes third
In Northwood, Gibsonburg won with 105 points, while Ottawa Hills was second with 40, and Northwood was
third with 15.
Northwood’s Krueger won the 100 in 11.9.
NB takes first
North Baltimore scored 111 points to beat Lakota with 99, McComb with 93 and Vanlue with 28.
GIRLS
Elmwood wins
four-team meet
In Jerry City, Elmwood totaled 125 points to win a four-team meet.
Arcadia was second with 49, followed by Lima Perry with 45 and New Riegel with 15.
Eastwood wins
In Fremont, Eastwood scored 101 points to beat Fremont Ross with 86 and Woodmore with 16.
Northwood finishes second
In Northwood, Gibsonburg won the meet with 91 points. Northwood won seven events, giving it 50 points,
good for second place. Ottawa Hills was third with 15 points.
Winners for the Rangers were: Bowers, 110 hurdles (19.3), 300 hurdles (54.2); Carb?©, 1,600 (5:58;), 800
(2:43.2); Smothers, 400, 1:05.34; Roach, long jump, 13-11; and Conley, shot put, 32-0.
NB finishes first
North Baltimore scored 110 points to beat Lakota with 73, Vanlue with 25 and Bettsville with 6.
Junior high results

BOYS
Springfield beat Bowling Green, 68-46. Winning for the boys were Dible, 100, 11.6 (school record);
Applegate, 800, 1,600; Steffen, 400; Powers, discus; and the 1,600 relay team of team of Fair,
Applegate, Hoehner, and Steffen.
GIRLS
Bowling Green beat Springfield, 63-52. BG’s winners were: Rothweiler, 1,600; Jones, high jump; Atwood,
discus; Cable, 400; and Uzo Nwauwa, shot put.
