Eastwood scored three times in the third inning Thursday on the way to a 4-2 win over Elmwood to tighten the Northern Buckeye Conference softball race.
The Eagles are now 24-2 overall and 10-2 in the NBC while the Royals are 19-5 and 10-1.
In sectional baseball action, Toledo Central Catholic beat Eastwood, 3-0, in a Division II game and Genoa topped Lake, 3-2 in a Division III game.
In sectional softball play, Evergreen beat Otsego, 5-4 in 10 innings in Division III, and North Baltimore rolled past Van Buren, 16-4, in Division IV.

SOFTBALL
REGULAR SEASON
Eastwood 4, Elmwood 2
In Luckey, Eastwood’s Whitney Foster struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter while allowing five hits
Miranda Benschoter struck out four, walked two and allowed four hits for Elmwood.
Mackenzie Albright had an RBI for Eastwood.
Rebecca Harvey hit a double and had an RBI for the Royals.
Elmwood plays at Lake and Eastwood plays at Rossford tonight.

SECTIONAL
Division III
Evergreen 5, Otsego 4, 10 innings
In Liberty Center, Evergreen pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th inning to edge Otsego.
Otesgo’s Kylie Asmus allowed four hits and struck out 17, but walked 16.
Asmus also hit two singles and a double for the Knights while Tayler Bowen and Emily Carson each hit three singles.

Division IV
North Baltimore 16, Van Buren 4
In Leipsic, North Baltimore rolled past Van Buren, scoring 10 times in the fourth inning, to advance to a district semifinal against Mohawk at Findlay High School on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The Tigers had 16 hits in the win and NB’s top hitters were: Ricci Emahiser, 3-for-3, double; Kelsey Gazarek, Courtney Bretz, Cheyenne Hernandez and Hanna Brian, two singles each; and Haleigh Fleck, single, double.

Toledo Central Catholic 3,
Eastwood 0
In Toledo, Eastwood managed only three hits in the loss.
The Eagles are now 16-7 overall.

Division III
Genoa 3, Lake 2
In Genoa, Lake had nine hits, but could score only two runs to drop a close decision to Genoa.
Lake’s top hitters were: Casey Blank and Adam Duncan, both 2-for-3 with an RBI; Nick Walsh, 2-for-3; and Jayce Vancena and Connor Bowen, double each.

REGULAR SEASON
North Baltimore 13, Mohawk 5
In North Baltimore, Jacob Frost had a big night for the Tigers in the Midland Athletic League win.
Frost was 4-for-4 with a grand slam home run and eight RBI. He also pitched a complete game, striking out two while allowing seven hits and three earned runs.
Other top hitters for NB were: Brandon Solly, home run, single; Jordan Watson, two singles, RBI; Dalton Ishmael, two singles, double; Sean Watson, two singles; and Zach Stewart, RBI.
North Baltimore is 15-8 overall and 7-1 in the MAL.
