Prep Roundup: Eastwood falls to Clyde (9-7-13) PDF Print E-mail

Eastwood’s football team took the lead in the third quarter Friday, but Clyde rallied for a 17-13 win in a nonleague game.
In other games, it was: Rossford 45, Port Clinton 28; Hopewell-Loudon 32, Elmwood 8; Lakota 14, Gibsonburg 6; Wayne Trace 65, Otsego 0; Fairview 46, North Baltimore 30; Bowling Green 35, Fostoria 6; Perrysburg 50, Clay 13; and Lake 56, Northwood 20.

Clyde 17, Eastwood 13
In Luckey, Clyde scored with 1:12 remaining in the third quarter to go ahead for good.
Eastwood had taken a 13-10 lead on an 8-yard pass from Jake Schmeltz to Grant Peters just 2:54 earlier.
Eastwood totaled 263 yards, including 175 yards rushing from Devin Snowden, Schmeltz and Michael Flipse.
Clyde had 360 yards to improve to 2-0 overall. Eastwood is 1-1.

Rossford 45, Port Clinton 28
In Port Clinton, Dylan Losiewicz rushed 16 times for 134 yards and caught four passes for 116 yards and two TDs to help Rossford overcome a 14-12 deficit at the half.
Losiewicz caught scoring passes of 31 and 65 yards from Kyle Sherman, and teammate Eric Davis scored on runs of 10, 1 and 5 yards.
Sherman completed 8-of-15 passes for 176 yards, while Davis had 14 carries for 67 yards.
Rossford (2-0) rushed for 270 of its 463 total yards. PC (0-2) had 250 yards, but only 91 in the second half.

Lakota 14, Gibsonburg 6
In Gibsonburg, Lakota (2-0) scored on two big plays in the first half and held on to improve to 2-0.
Lakota scored on Jordan Jaso’s 77-yard run in the first quarter and Colin Timmons’ 64-yard pass to Jack Raymond in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead.
Jaso ran 22 times for 184 yards to help Lakota to a 321-232 edge in total yards. Timmons was 9-of-24 for 116 yards, with Raymond catching six passes for 97 yards.
Gibsonburg is 1-1.

Hopewell-Loudon 32,
Elmwood 8
In Bascom, Hopewell built a 23-0 lead to improve to 1-1.
Elmwood’s Austin Isaacs scored on a 78-yard run. He had 13 carries for 118 yards.
Elmwood (0-2) was out-gained by a 352-141 margin.

Fairview 46,
North Baltimore 30
In Sherwood, Fairview took a 25-14 lead at the half and held off NB.
NB’s Lane Bishop completed 28-of-43 passes for 273 yards and rushed for 108 yards, and Brandon Solly had seven receptions for 77 yards.
Bishop scored on runs of two and five yards, and threw a 42-yard TD pass to Solly.
Fairview had 448 yards, compared to NB’s 436.

Wayne Trace 65, Otsego 0
In Haviland, Colby Spiece and Korbin Showalter led Wayne Trace to its shutout victory over Otsego (1-1).
Spiece threw for four touchdowns, two to Showalter, and also ran for a TD. Spiece also threw for four 2-point conversions and ran for one.
In addition to his two touchdown receptions, Showalter scored on an interception return and a 2-point conversion.

In Toledo at Heather Downs Country Club. BG’s Charlee Carroll and Alisha Noon each shot 42 while Drew Peterson had a 53 and Morgan Roe shot 56.

VOLLEYBALL
Elmwood wins
In Jerry City, Elmwood is 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the Northern Buckeye Conference after a 25-16, 25-18, 25-14 winner over Rossford.
Elmwood’s leaders were: Amanda Jones, 35 assists, eight digs; Madison Arnold, 15 kills; Marissa Swavel, 14 digs; Jasmine Marsh, 11 kills, eight digs; and Ashley Veryser, eight kills.
Elmwood is 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the NBC. Rossford is 7-1, 3-1.

Otsego loses
In Luckey, Eastwood was a 30-28, 30-28, 21-25, 17-25, 20-18 winner over Otsego in an NBC match.
Otsego’s leaders were: Abby Hesselschwardt, 31 kills; Lindsey Donald, six aces, 20 digs; Savannah Schwind, 17 digs; Emily McVeigh, 16 digs; and Morgan Smoyer, 16 kills.
Otsego is 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the NBC.
Eastwood’s leaders were published in Friday’s Sentinel.
