Eastwood's boys were knocked out a tie for first place in the Northern Buckeye Conference Tuesday night with a 52-42 loss to Genoa. The Eagles are 6-3 in the NBC, one-game behind Lake (7-2). Lake was a 45-42 winner over Elmwood. In other games in the NBC, it was: Fostoria 65, Rossford 62; and Otsego 46, Woodmore 35. In a boys Toledo Area Athletic Conference game, Ottawa Hills defeated Northwood, 52-45. In girls Northern Lakes League games, it was: Bowling Green 49, Anthony Wayne 45; Perrysburg 60, Maumee 28; Southview 38, Napoleon 30; and Northview 61, Springfield 30. In girls non-league games, it was: Hopewell-Loudon 52, Elmwood 51; and Oak Harbor 56, Lakota 39. BOYS Genoa 52, Eastwood 42 In Genoa, the Comets rallied from a 36-34 deficit in the fourth quarter by holding Eastwood to six points. Tyler Pickard had 15 points and Joey Newland added 14 for Genoa (5-9, 2-7). The Comets won the game at the free-throw line, making 21-of-35 attempts to Eastwood's 2-of-4. Nick Vespi led Eastwood with 20 points, while Jacob Faykosh had 13. Fostoria 65, Rossford 62 In Rossford, Xavier Ragin scored 22 points to help Fostoria (5-9, 4-5) overcome a 33-27 deficit. Rossford (4-10, 4-5) was led by Manny Durden with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Larry Sloan with 19 points and Mack Miller with 10 points. Otsego 46, Woodmore 35 In Elmore, Otsego pulled away to an 11-point lead over the middle two quarters after a 10-10 tie after one period. Ryan Smoyer had nine points for Otsego (8-5, 5-4). Donny Bowen and Harrison Wooten each scored 10 points for Woodmore (6-8, 3-6). Ottawa Hills 52, Northwood 45 In Ottawa Hills, the Green Bears had three players score in double figures in the TAAC win. Evan Perkins scored 25 points for Northwood and Tyler Williams added 10. Ottawa Hill is 6-7 overall and 4-4 in the TAAC and Northwood is 2-12, 1-7. GIRLS Perrysburg 60, Maumee 28 In Maumee, Kelsea Newman scored 16 points and Sarah Baer added 10 points and eight rebounds as Perrysburg improved to 12-3, 8-2. Emily Treece also had eight rebounds for Perrysburg, and Becca Tudor had five assists. Maumee is 4-11, 1-9. Hopewell-Loudon 52, Elmwood 51 In Bascom, Hopewell erased a 35-22 deficit to improve to 12-4. Racquel Hossler nailed the game-winning jumper from the corner with eight seconds remaining for Hopewell. Sierra Beckford led Elmwood (9-6) with 16 points, while Brittany Gross added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Marissa Swavel and Brittany George both had 11 points. Oak Harbor 56, Lakota 39 In Oak Harbor, Allison Dunn had 18 points and seven rebounds, and Abbie Gezo hit for 11 points as the Rockets raised their record to 6-10. Jessica Hoffman paced Lakota (3-15) with 16 points. Freshmen results GIRLS BASKETBALL Perrysburg beat Maumee, 37-17. Jenn Witt had 15 points for Perrysburg (10-3). Junior high results SEVENTH GRADE GIRLS BASKETBALL Anthony Wayne beat Bowling Green, 25-15. Cassidy Williford and Ally Hart were BG's leaders. BG is 2-1. Perrysburg beat Arbor Hills, 39-18. Bailey Scheckelhoff and Mariah Copeland each scored seven points for Perrysburg (2-2). BOWLING In Sandusky, the Bowling Green No. 1 team remained undefeated sweeping Columbian Blue 3-0 winning 1,874-1,350 on Sunday at Star Lanes. Cailyn Overhulse led the team with a 186 game and 300 total. Alex Noble bowled 289 total. The team leads the Northern Ohio Bowling Conference at 12-0. On Jan. 22 in Fostoria, the team defeated Star Lanes 1, 2,122-1,869 at Seneca Lanes. Lucas Jenne led the team with a 221 game and 368 total. Noble added a 206, 356. In Sandusky, Eastwood swept Bowling Green No. 2 in the NOBC on Sunday at Star Lanes, 1,993-1,724. Michael Young led the winning Eastwood tem with a 216 and 175 for 391. Jordan Cook totaled 302. Austyn Chesser led BG No. 2 with a 176 game and 308 total. Travis Noon bowled 289. In Fostoria, BG No. 2 defeated Woodmore I, 2,135-1,423, on Jan. 22 at Seneca Lanes. Noon led the team with a 185 game and 331 total. Gavin Ingraham totaled 314. BG is now 8-4 in the NOBC In Sandusky, Bowling Green No. 3 topped Woodmore #3, 1,554-1,146 at Star Lanes on Sunday. Sofia Calderon led BG with a 161 game and 280 total. In Fostoria, BG No. 3 defeated Columbian Blue 1,514-1,309 on Jan. 22 at Seneca Lanes. Noon led BG with a 149 game and 258. |
