Prep Roundup: Burroughs finishes seventh at state swim meet (2-22-13) PDF Print E-mail

Bowling Green’s Peter Burroughs finished seventh in the 100 breast stroke at the Division II state swimming meet Friday. He was timed in 59.54 in the final.
Burroughs also was 14th in the 200 individual medley. He finished in 1:59.97 in the consolation final.
In the Division I girls preliminaries Friday, BG’s Emmy Sehmann qualified seventh to championship final in the 200 freestyle in 1:51.51. Sehmann qualified 10th to consolation final in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.38.
Sehmann swims her finals on Saturday.
The top 16 swimmers in each event earn All-Ohio honors.

HOCKEY
Toledo St. John’s 5, BGHS 0
In Sylvania, second-ranked Toledo St. John’s beat Bowling Green in the district hockey semifinals.
Tanner Fausnaugh made 38 saves for the Bobcats.
BG had 15 shots on goal.
The Bobcats finished 15-16-1 overall.
BG resident Derek Dohanos scored a power-play goal for St. John’s.

WRESTLING
Four county wrestlers one
win from state tourney
In district wrestling at the Stroh Center, four wrestlers from Wood County high schools are one win away from the state meet after Friday’s action.
In Division III, Otsego’s Buddy Limes (120), Elmwood’s Michael Baer (145) and Dalton Ishmael (195) advanced to the semifinals. Ishmael had two pins and now has 150 career pins.
In Division II, C.J. Ball (120) of Rossford qualified for the semifinals.
All the rest of the qualifiers have only one loss and remain in the consolation wrestlebacks.
Wrestling begins Saturday at 11 a.m. with two rounds of consolations and then the semifinals.

BASKETBALL
BOYS
Elmwood 47, Woodmore 36
In Elmore, Elmwood pulled away over the final three quarters to post the Northern Buckeye Conference win.
Zach Foster led the Royals with 15 points and Aaron Arnold scored 12 points. Elmwood’s Austin Hoiles had eight rebounds and five steals.
Elmwood finished the regular season 14-8 overall and 8-6 in the NBC.
Matt Haar scored 13 points for Woodmore, 9-13, 6-8.

Tiffin Calvert 58, Lakota 33
In Kansas, Tiffin Calvert led by four points at halftime, but pulled away in the second half to record the Midland Athletic League win.
Colin Timmons scored 11 points for Lakota, 8-14 overall and 3-8 in the MAL.
Jared Thompson scored 10 points for Calvert, 5-17, 4-7.

Mohawk 69, North Baltimore 66
In North Baltimore, Drew Loose scored 33 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Mohawk past North Baltimore in MAL play.
Jacob Frost scored 19 points for NB, Jacob Williams added 18 and Lane Bishop had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Mohawk is 8-14 overall and 4-7 in the MAL. NB is 3-19, 3-9.

Toledo Christian 89,
Northwood 46
In Northwood, Toledo Christian scored 20 or more points in each quarter on the way to the Toledo Area Athletic Conference victory.
Evan Perkins and John Segura each scored 10 points for Northwood, 5-16 overall and 3-11 in the TAAC.
Toledo Christian, No. 9 in Division IV in the final state-wide poll, finished the regular season 20-2 overall and 13-1 in the TAAC.
