Prep Roundup: BGHS boys lose to Start (1-4-14)

Bowling Green’s boys basketball team was an 80-74 loser Saturday to Start in a nonleague game.
Also Saturday, Jared Rettig scored 23 points to help Lake improve to 9-0 with a 68-65 win over Old Fort.

In other boys games, it was: Perrysburg 66, Toledo St. Francis 54; Eastwood 80, New Riegel 51; Elmwood
43, Hopewell-Loudon 33; Rossford 66, Clay 62; Gibsonburg 68, Northwood 12; Liberty Center 50, Otsego 18;
and North Baltimore 75, Ridgemont 36.
In girls nonleague games, it was: Elmwood 62, Van Buren 51; and North Baltimore 65, Ridgemont 22.

BOYS
Start 80, BGHS 74
In Toledo, Start out-scored BG 27-23 in the fourth quarter for its first win of the season.
Lamontá Stone led BG, 2-7 overall, with 27 points, while Trent Hinton added 12 points.
Aiden Markey scored 11 points and Mitchell Gardner added 10.
Eastwood 80, New Riegel 51
In Luckey, Jake Schmeltz scored 30 points to lead Eastwood (4-4).
The Eagles out-scored New Riegel, 32-9 in the third quarter en route to the win.
Zach Jacoby added 12 points for Eastwood, while Grant Peters scored 11 and Steven Bradley added 10.
Elmwood 43,
Hopewell-Loudon 33
In Jerry City, Aaron Arnold scored 16 points and Sebastian Baxter scored 11 for Elmwood (1-6).
The Royals out-scored Hopewell 9-4 in the fourth quarter to extend a 34-29 lead.
Lake 68, Old Fort 65
In Old Fort, Lake was out-scored 24-17 in the fourth quarter but held on for the win.
Lake’s Connor Bowen scored 19 points and Cody Witt added 12. Old Fort is 7-2.
Rossford 66, Clay 62
In Oregon, Derek Mack scored 29 points as Rossford (7-3) held on after leading 33-15 at halftime.
Brian Burks added 15 points for the Bulldogs.

Tyanna Smith had 25 points and 10 rebounds as the Bobcats improved to 6-6.
Hanna Williford added 11 points for BG. Ross is 4-4.
Elmwood 62,
Van Buren 51
In Jerry City, three players scored in double figures to lead Elmwood.
Samantha Ervin led the Royals (7-4) with 16 points, while Kristen Curtis and Marissa Swavel scored 14 and
10 points, respectively.
North Baltimore 65,
Ridgemont 22
In Ridgemont, NB led 38-14 at halftime.
Olivia Frost and Lacey Trumbull paced the Tigers (5-6) with 13 points each.
