Prep Roundup: BG softball sweeps Lake

Bowling Green’s Hanna Williford pitched a two-hitter in the first game and the Bobcats scored a run in
the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game for a 2-0, 10-9 softball sweep of Lake.
Williford struck out seven and walked none in the six-inning first game.
Williford also singled and doubled, while BG’s Anna Szabo singled twice,
Lake’s Megan Williams and Sumer Woodruff both singled. PHOTO GALLERY
In Game 2,
Williford scored the winning run on a passed ball with two out.
Williford singled with one out, and stole second and third. After a popup for the second out, she came
home on the passed ball.
Lake had scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie the game 9-9.
Williford was the winning pitcher in relief, allowing two runs (both unearned) on three hits with five
strikeouts.
Szabo singled and tripled, while Kelsey Parker doubled, and tripled, and Reagan Morman singled twice.
Williams and Jordan Jacob singled and doubled for Lake.
Otsego 5, Central Catholic 4
Otsego 9, Central Catholic 6
In Toledo, Otsego won two five-inning games.
In the first game, Otsego scored the winning run in the fifth after Central used a four-run fourth to tie
the score.
Tayler Bowen singled twice for Otsego, while Kylie Asmus homered and Emma Perry doubled.
In the second game, Otsego scored six runs in the fourth inning to secure the win.
Savannah Schwind hit a double and a single for Otsego.
Lakota 10, Cardinal Stritch 2
In Kansas, Lakota took a 2-0 lead in the first and never allowed Stritch to tie the game.
Lakota’s leading hitters were: Aubrey Bickford, 2-for-3, run, two RBI, double; and Brianna Long-Meyer,
2-for-2, two runs, RBI, double, triple.
BASEBALL
BGHS 13, Liberty Center 3
BGHS 11, Liberty Center 1
BG totaled 28 hits in two six-inning victories.
In Game 1, BG’s leading hitters were: Hogan Pash, 2-for-4, two runs; and Joe Cohen, 3-for-4, three runs,
three RBI.
Mitch Cromley pitched a five-hitter, striking out five.
In Game 2, BG’s leading hitters were: Clark Mayberry, 3-for-4, three runs, double; Ricky Riggs, 2-for-3;
three runs; Clark Mayberry, 3-for-3, two runs, three RBI, double; Mason Apple, 2-for-3, three RBI;
Cohen, 2-for-3, RBI; and Elijah Richardson, 2-for-3, two RBI, double.
Jack Schaller and Trey Walker combined on a four-hitter, striking out five.

Defiance 9, Eastwood 1
In Defiance, Eastwood had three hits in each game.

Otsego finishes first
In Castalia, Otsego scored 81 points to win the 10-team Margaretta Invitational. Lakota was eighth with
22.
Otsego’s winners were:
• Pole vault relay – Cole Gorski, Caleb Baus and Adam Lewis, 31-6. Gorski was first individually at 13-6.

• 6,400 relay, Tyler Harroun, Seth Harnishfeger, Baus and Brandon Avers, 19:59.30.
• 440 shuttle hurdles relay, Zane Thomas, Josh Horseman, Brant Kitchen and Gorski, 66.10.
GIRLS
Otsego places sixth
In Castalia, Otsego totaled 41 points to finish sixth and Lakota was eighth with 28 1/2 in the 10-team
Margaretta Invitational.
Otsego won two events.
The 3,200 relay team of Dayna Fackler, Allison Horen, Mallory Beach and Alex Wenig won in 10:48.30. The
distance medley relay team of Wenig, Lauren Wynn, Beach and Fackler won in 14:46.
Lakota’s Cariss Reese, Grace Bennett and Paige Alloway combined to win the pole vault relay (21-0). Reese
was first individually at 8-6.
Lakota’s Katie Park was the top individual in the discus (102-7).
