Lake’s baseball team scored hree times in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday for a 3-2 win over
Liberty Center in a Division III district tournament game.
LC had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth, but Lake rallied to improve to 21-2 overall.
The Flyers face Northern Buckeye Conference rival Elmwood in a district semifinal Thursday in a 4:15 p.m.
start at Defiance High School.
Jayce Vancena pitched a three-hitter and struck out 10 for Lake.
The Flyers’ leading hitters were: Adam Duncan, 2-for-4, RBI; and Brad Ackerman, double.

Toledo St. Ursula 1
In Perrysburg, Taylor Tafelski hit a home run to guide the Yellow Jackets to a sectional championship.

Adrianne Ruen picked up the win for Perrysburg.
Other top hitters for Perrysburg (10-14) were: Madison Gerding, double, RBI; and Mallory Creps, single,
RBI.

Maumee 10, BGHS 2
Bowling Green is 12-8 overall after a sectional final loss at home.
BG’s Kinsey Kale doubled and tripled.
Sandusky 4, Lake 3
In Sandusky, the Blue Streaks scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Megan Williams, Sydnee Behlmer and Emma Materni, each had a single and an RBI for Lake (11-14 overall).

Eastwood 4, Fostoria 1
In Luckey, Sam Shirling fired 11 strikeouts and scattered five hits to help her team win a sectional
championship.
Top hitters for Eastwood (22-1) were: Cassidy Rolf, home run; and Krista Jennings, Michaela Bunge, Anna
Rahrig, three singles each.

In Kansas, Lakota smacked 16 hits to win a sectional championship.
Top hitters for the Raiders were: Bre Long-Meyer, 2-for-4, RBI; Alaina Bickford, 4-for-4, double; Morgan
Gangwer, double, two RBI; Aubrey Bickford, 2-for-3; Aspen Ray, 3-for-3, triple, three RBI; and Sam
Miller, 2-for-3, two RBI.

Miller City 3
In Miller City, North Baltimore put on a hitting clinic en route to a sectional final win.
The Tigers clubbed 20 hits including two home runs — one a grand slam —by Makayla Rein, who finished with
eight RBI.
Other top hitters for NB (9-12) were: Hanna Brian, 4-for-5; Rachel Peters, 2-for-5; Jasmine Bretz,
3-for-5, double, RBI; Bailey Boyer, 3-for-4, double; Kelcie Bean, 2-for-3, RBI; and Haleigh Fleck,
2-for-4, double, five RBI.
Cheyenne Hernandez had 12 strikeouts for the Tigers.
SECTIONAL TENNIS
DIVISION I
At the University of Toledo
In Toledo, Troy Weider, and the doubles teams of Mitch Skotynsky and Austin Riffer, and Konnor Massell
and Alejandro Balibrea qualified for the district tournament by advancing to the semifinals.
The four finishers in both singles and doubles advance to next week’s district tournament at Bowling
Green State University.
In singles play, Troy Weider, the No. 3 seed, downed Anthony Wayne’s Sam Barrett 6-0, 6-0. He also
defeated Central Catholic’s London Klucas, 6-0, 6-0. He faces St. Francis’ Tyler Gargas in the
semifinals.
Also in the singles draw, Perrysburg’s Justin Weidner and Nick Buhk both lost in the quarterfinals after
winning first-round matches.
In doubles action, Skotynsky and Riffer earned a bye in the first round before defeating AW’s Austin
Adams and Austin Kaminiski, 6-0, 6-2. The pair faces St. Francis’ Lucas Kasper and Javier Gomez in the
semifinals.
Massell and Balibrea also earned a first-round bye before they defeated St. Francis’ Tom Manathan and
Ethan Bevington 6-2, 6-0. They face Anthony Wayne’s Todd Guardiola and Alex Bukovinsky in the
semifinaks.
