Eastwood softball wins outright NBC softball title (5-19-12) PDF Print E-mail

Eastwood’s softball team clinched the Northern Buckeye Conference championship outright Friday with a 1-0 home win over Otsego.
Hannah Hirzel’s home run to lead off the third inning proved to be the game-winning hit for the Eagles. Hirzel also added a double to lead Eastwood at the plate.
Other leading hitters for Eastwood, 24-4 overall and 12-2 NBC, were: Cassidy Rolf, 1-for-2; and Courtney Rolf, 1-for-3.
Whitney Foster was the winning pitcher, allowing just four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
Leading hitters for Otsego (7-7 NBC) were: Kylie Asmus, 2-for-3; and Emily Carson and Lindsay Donald, 1-for-3 each.

Junior varsity results
BASEBALL
Eastwood beat Otsego, 5-1 in eight innings. Leading hitters for the Eagles were: David Krukemyer, 2-for-4, RBI single in the eighth; and Kody Gottfried, 1-for-4, two-RBI double in the eighth. Eastwood finished the season 15-8 overall and 9-3 in the NBC.
