ROSSFORD — The high school bowling season ended Friday for all the Wood County teams as no county bowlers advanced to the state finals.
The district tournaments for both boys and girls were held at Interstate Lanes.
Despite the lack of any state finalists, there were some highlights as Bowling Green’s girls finished fourth at 3,275, followed closely by Eastwood in fifth at 3,231. A total of 18 teams competed.
Eastwood’s Kat Przybylski had the seventh highest individual series and was named to the all-district team which recognized the top eight finishers in the field.
Przybylski started slow with a 143 game and finished strong with games of 192 and 195 for a 530 series. It took a 584 total to advance as an individual.
Teammate Jessica Young finished 10th with her 522. Blake Romstadt led Rossford with a 506. Alisha Noon was high for the Bobcats at 493, followed by Kyra Beeker at 484.
Coldwater won the event with a 3,785 total, and joined runnerup St. Marys at 3,455 as the two teams advancing to next Friday’s state finals.
The Bobcats struggled a bit in the regulation games and entered the six Baker games in eighth place, but rolled the second highest Baker total on the day of 1,030 pins to advance their total.
Lakota was led by Aubrey Bickford at 463 and Alaina Bickford at 458, as the team totaled 2,933 for 11th place. Rossford finished 14th at 2,868.
In the boys tournament, BG was 10th with a 3,522 total.
The team was led by Jacob Spangenberg who opened with a fine 244 game and finished with a 587 series. That ranked him 12th among the more than 100 bowlers. Justin Overhulse shot a 533 set for BG.
Eastwood’s Kyle Waynick competed as an individual and finished 13th overall, just behind Spangenberg. It took a 616 series to advance as an individual, and 607 to be named to the all-district team.
Sandusky Perkins dominated in the Baker games to win the district event at 4,148. St. Henry at 4,045, and Huron at 3,906, also advanced to the state finals in Columbus next Saturday.
