County swimmers qualify for district meet

Sectional tournaments for swimmers and divers from Wood County high schools were contested last weekend.

The district boys and girls events in both Division I and Division II are set for Cleveland State
University this week.
GIRLS
DIVISION I
At Ayersville, Bowling Green’s Emmy Sehmann set sectional records in winning the 100 freestyle (52.40),
and 200 freestyle (1:53.90).
Sehmann also swam on two winning relay teams – 400 freestyle with Mallory Glenn, Jess Crook, and Cate
Longmore-Micham (3:51.93), and 200 medley with Emma Cavins, Glenn, and Larissa Leck (1:57.77).
Also, Crook, Paityn Dishop, Leck, and Cate Longmore-Micham won the 200 freestyle relay (1:50,44).
Other individual winners for the Bobcats were:, Leck, 50 freestyle (28.14); Glenn, 100 breast stroke
(1:10.71); and Cavins, 200 individual medley (2:28.16);
Also advancing for BG were: Longmore-Micham, second in the 500 freestyle (5:48.16), and third in the 200
freestyle (2:09.28); Cavins, second in the 100 breast stroke (1:12.32); Glenn, second in the 100
butterfly (1:05.96); and Anne Miner, second in the one-meter diving (242.05).
At Napoleon, Perrysburg’s Sabrina Smith, Cigdem Kahyaoglu, Anna Blue, and Elizabeth Palmer won the 200
freestyle relay.
Palmer won the 100 freestyle (56.22); Kahyaoglu won the 100 breast stroke (1:11.39); Christina Schorsch
won the 100 butterfly (103.74); and Meghan Burnard won the 500 freestyle (5:19.75) for the Yellow
Jackets.
Also Palmer was second in the 50 freestyle (26.02); Blue was second in the 500 freestyle (5:22.91), and
third in the 50 freestyle (26.13); Burnhard was third in the 200 freestyle (2:02.04); Kahyaoglu was
fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:03.15); Maddie Burke was fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:27.80); Smith was
third in the 200 individual medley (2:17.80), and fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:02.37); and Schorsch
was eighth in the 200 individual medley (2:25.98); the 400 freestyle relay team of Burnard, Schorsch,
Tori Riggs, and Blue was second (3:53.89), and the 200 medley team of Smith, Kahyaoglu, Burnard, and
Palmer was second (1:56.32).
DIVISION II
At Ayersville, Eastwood’s Alyssa Decker, and Elmwood’s Savannah Naugle-Baker, each won two individual
events.
Decker won the 100 butterfly (1:04.71), and the 200 individual medley (2:22.38).
Naugle-Baker won the 200 freestyle (2:06.74), and 500 freestyle (5:39.24).
Also advancing were: Eastwood’s Hannah Keiser, second in the 500 freestyle (6:03.87), fourth in the 100
backstroke (1:08.01); Bethany Nabors, second in the 100 backstroke (1:06.77); the 400 third-place
freestyle relay team of Nabors, Natalie Reidling, Decker, and Keiser (4:08.11).
BOYS
DIVISION I
At Napoleon, Perrysburg’s Alex Kloster was second in the 500 freestyle (5:01.09) while Cole McClary,
Hayden McClary, Nick Mancy, and Kloster were second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.72).
McClary was third in the 100 freestyle (51.14); Kloster was third in the 200 freestyle (1:51.29); and the
400 freestyle relay team of Kloster, Travis Enos, Nick Mancy, and McClary was third (3:41.87).
DIVISION II
At Ayersville, BG’s Corey Gilbert won the 500 freestyle (5:10.67), and was third in the 100 butterfly
(58.41). Teammate Trae Gulgin was second in the 200 individual medley, and third in the 100 backstroke
(58.27).
