Clody, Horrigan win regional track championships (5-30-14)

Perrysburg’s Courtney Clody won the 1,600 and the 800, and Bowling Green’s Maria Horrigan won the pole
vault Friday during the Division I regional track and field meet at Amherst Steele.
Clody won the 1,600 in 5:03.97 and the 800 in 2:11.98.
Horrigan cleared 12-10 to win the pole vault.
The finishes earned them a trip to the state meet June 6-7 at Ohio State University.
The top four finishers in each event advanced to state.
Horrigan is headed to the state for the third time after finishing third in 2012 and tying for 13th last
season. Clody was sixth in the 800 last season.
Also qualifying for state was Perrysburg’s Taylor Monheim in the 3,200, and the Yellow Jackets’ 1,600
relay team.
MEET
RESULTS

The 1,600 relay team of Jordan Doore, Grace Reddick, Alexis Kemp and Clody was second in 3:55.73.
Monheim was third in the 3,200 in 10:59.60. She was 10th in the event at state last season.
Also for Perrysburg, Doore was sixth in the 800 in 2:17.19; Gabrielle Jett was seventh in the discus
(116-10); the 400 relay team of Brittany Watson, Kayla Laumann, Katherine Diehl and Cameron Clark was
eighth in 50.01; and Grace Lahey was eighth in the 3,200 in 11:26.10.
Perrysburg, which also won the 3,200 relay on Wednesday, finished
second in the regional with 51 points, just four behind Cleveland St. Joseph.
Horrigan also was eighth in the long
jump (16-9).
In the boys meet, Perrysburg’s Brandon Lowery was seventh in the 110 hurdles (15.34).

DIVISION III
At Tiffin
Lakota’s Kevin Crowe qualified for state in the shot put.
He finished second in the event with a distance of 51-5.

In the girls meet, Lakota’s Cariss Reese was seventh in the 300 hurdles (47.87) and eighth in the 100
hurdles (18.18).
