Chauncey Orr will be attending Bowling Green State University on an athletic scholarship in the fall to
play basketball and further his academic career.
That was confirmed by his father, Louis Orr, Thursday afternoon. Louis Orr is also BG’s head men’s
basketball.
There has been speculation for several months where the younger Orr would attend college and what the
financial package would entail.
"He told his high school coach (Von Graffin) and his mom before I heard," Louis Orr said.
"I was excited and I was glad that it was his choice. It was his decision that he made that this is
where he wanted to be.
"When I say I’m excited, I’m a fan of his, of course, as his dad," coach Orr continued.
"As for the basketball, I’m excited about him as a player. I know how hard he’s worked and the time
he has put in and how he has grown as a player in a lot of different ways."
Chauncey Orr was a four-year standout for Bowling Green High School, who finished as the all-time leading
scorer in school history with 1,385 points. This past season, the 6-foot-4 Orr averaged 21.5 points, 6.9
rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He was first-team all-county, all-league, the Division I district
player of the year, and a first-team All-Ohio selection.
"I want to give credit to coach Von and Bowling Green High School for really embracing him and
allowing him to develop," coach Orr said. "I would like to thank his teammates. I know with
Xavier (Brown), that was a guy he became friends with right when he got here. That was important."

Louis Orr said Chauncey was able to develop and grow as a player because Graffin used him in many
different ways – playing both inside and outside, handling the ball, shooting threes, attacking the
basket, and using all his talents.
"Those same attributes, he brings to us," coach Orr said about his son’s versatility and
ability to play different positions.
"And there is his understanding of the game; he knows how to play. He’s a good teammate," he
added. "I have a vision of him being able to do a lot of different things and I think he has a
chance to be a good scorer.
"He’s working really hard now, getting ready for college."
Chauncey Orr is one of three incoming freshmen recruits for the Falcons, joining Jehvon Clarke, 6-1, and
Desmond Rorie, 6-9. There are nine returning lettermen from the team which finished14-19 overall and 8-8
in the Mid-American Conference last season.
Anthony Henderson, who was redshirted last season, will also be eligible.
Coach Orr said Chauncey would speak with the media at a later date.
