SYLVANIA —Southview grabbed an early lead and never looked back on the way to a 64-40 victory over Bowling Green Thursday. It was the Northern Lakes League opener for both teams.
“We couldn’t get many open looks tonight. They were guarding us well, but we were not creating opportunities for our shooters,” BG boys head coach Mike Malinowski said.
The Bobcats held an early 3-2 lead, but the Cougars took control with a 12-0 run, and led 24-10 after eight minutes.
Southview was able to pound the ball inside in the first quarter, making 10-of-20 shots from the field, most from close range.
“When you’re young and inexperienced, you really have no reason to have a lot of confidence. When you get down early, it surely does not help,” Malinowski said.
