While making the podium in one of her two events was great, it wasn't good enough. She wanted to podium in two events.
After an intensive offseason schedule Sehmann found herself swimming in Canton again as a junior.
This time, her goal of two podiums was a reality.
Sehmann finished seventh in the Division I 100 and 200 freestyle, earning All-Ohio honors in both events during the swim meet at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
"I was really happy because it was my first time (getting the podium) in both events," Sehmann said. "I wasn't extremely happy with my times, but they were still pretty good."
Sehmann finished the 100 in 51.64 seconds and the 200 in 1.50.93, both season-best times. Last year, she finished fifth in the 200 in 150.16, and she was ninth in the 500. Sehmann did not race the 100 at state last year.

COLUMBUS — Perrysburg’s Rocco Caywood defeated Matt Stencel of Clay 7-3 for the Division I 182 state title Saturday.
Caywood is the third state champion for Perrysburg High School.
The Yellow Jackets also placed second as a team with 90 1/2 points behind champion Massillon Perry with 185.
Caywood scored early with a takedown in the first period. Stencil escaped in the end of the first and the start of the second, but Caywood’s throw-by takedown put him in the lead. He added another in the third period to seal the win.
‘‘My coaches told me that down here I would get the first takedown and sit on the lead,” said Caywood. “They told me to keep scoring points no one is going to stop you and it worked. The big motivator this year was last year. I went out early and stayed and watched the rest of the tournament. I saw guys I beat place. I just knew I had to come back and do it.”
‘‘If I said it was a surprise It’s not,” said Perrysburg head coach Sam Cotterman. “We thought he was the best guy in his weight class last year. Ever since last year his mentality has been different. It has been his goal. He lost a match at districts, but he came back and worked hard. He kept trying to score points. I was proud of him.
The Yellow Jackets had second place in Division I locked up after an impressive run in the morning consolation round. Perrysburg captured eight matches in a row and finished with three thirds, one fourth and a seventh in addition to Caywood’s title.
