COLUMBUS — Bowling Green’s Trey Walker shot an 89 Friday in the first round of the Division I boys state high school golf tournament at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course.
The junior is in a three-way tie for 54th place, shooting 45 on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine.
Dublin Coffman senior Nick Sparling is the leader with a 1-under-par 70. He’s the defending state champion.
In the girls tournament, Perrysburg shot a 372 total on OSU’s Gray Course.
Rocky River Magnificat leads the 12-team tournament with a 310. The Blue Streaks were seventh at state last season.
Perrysburg’s scores were: Monica Dorner, 40-47—87; Macy Tudor, 46-64—92; Katie Diehl, 47-46—93; Madison Williams, 51-49—100; and Sonia Krolak, 52-51—103.
Both tournaments conclude Saturday with the final 18 holes.
