BG’s Sehmann earns All-Ohio swimming and diving honors (2-21-14)

Bowling Green’s Emmy Sehmann advanced to the Division I finals in two events Friday, earning All-Ohio
swimming and diving honors in the process.
Sehmann qualified seventh in the 200 freestyle in 1:50.76 and sixth in the 100 freestyle in 51.71.
The finals are Saturday night at Branin Natatorium in Canton.
Also on Friday, BG’s Trae Gulgin swam in the Division II consolation finals of the 100 backstroke,
finishing 12th in 54.85.
BASKETBALL
BOYS
Rossford 55, Elmwood 39
In Rossford, Brian Burks led the Bulldogs with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Derek Mack scored 16
points.
The Bulldogs, 16-4 overall, finished second in the NBC with a 12-2 record.
Trevor Solether led Elmwood, 6-16 overall and 5-9 in the NBC, with 10 points, and Jarrett Childress had
seven rebounds.
Eastwood 77, Fostoria 33
In Luckey, Jake Schmeltz scored 31 points, leading Eastwood to its 10th NBC win.
Schmeltz was the only Eagle in double figures as every player on the varsity roster scored.
Eastwood finished the regular season 16-6 overall and 10-4 in the conference.
Fostoria is 2-19, 0-14.
Genoa 69, Otsego 66
In Tontogany, Genoa’s Luke Rightnowar and Casey Gose combined for 51 points to lift the Comets past the
Knights.
Rightnowar scored 27 points and had 15 rebounds, and Gose scored 24 points. Genoa was 20-of-25 from the
free-throw line.
John Thomas led Otsego with 22 points, Jalen Myers scored 15 points and had 14 rebounds, and Cody Downs
scored 11 points. The Knights were 13-of-24 from the free-throw line.
Genoa is 9-12 overall and 7-7 in the NBC. Otsego is 9-13, 5-9.
North Baltimore 72, Mohawk 52
In Sycamore, Tyler Trumbull scored 21 points and Derek McMahon added 16 leading North Baltimore to a
Midland Athletic League win.
Jacob Frost added 10 points for the Tigers (10-12, 4-6) and Chad Wright had nine points and nine
rebounds.
Mohawk is 1-9 in the MAL.
Ottawa Hills 68,
Northwood 23
In Ottawa Hills, the Green Bears jumped ahead 24-5 at the end of the first quarter on the way to a Toledo
Area Athletic Conference win.
Northwood is 1-20 overall and finished 0-14 in the TAAC. OH won the TAAC title at 14-0.

BOYS
BGHS, Perrysburg advance
Perrysburg and Bowling Green advanced from the Division I boys sectional Friday at Star Lanes at the
Harbor.
Perrysburg was second at 3,760, finishing behind champion Wapakoneta at 3,878.
Sandusky Perkins was third with 3,757. BG was the final team to advance with 3,717.
Kyle Loeppl led the Yellow Jackets with games of 222 and 208 in his 597 series. Teammate Justin McCamey
was right behind with 596 including games of 226 and 200. They were third and fourth individually. Jacob
Spangenberg led the Bobcats with 199 for 557. Alex Noble added 200 for 549.
The four teams will vie for the district title next Saturday at Lex Lanes in Lexington.
