BG girls win district bowling (3-1-14)

LEXINGTON – The Bowling Green Bobcat girls bowling team won the district to advance to the state
tournament Saturday in Columbus.
The Bobcat boys were second with Jacob Spangenberg rolling the second-high individual score and also
advancing to the state tournament as the high individual from a non-advancing team.
The Perrysburg boys finished fourth in the district event which was contested at Lex Lanes in Lexington.

Five Bobcats were named to their respective all-tournament teams. For the girls, Gabriella Calderon and
Kyra Beeker were named to the team. Spangenberg, Alex Noble and Chase Ferguson were similarly
recognized.
The Bobcat girls rolled games of 854, 817 and 792 and built better than a 100-pin lead in the three
standard games.
They added 1,014 pins in the six Baker games for the winning total of 3,477. Their high Baker games were
181 and 188.
Beeker led BG with games of 171, 199 and 191 for a 561 series, second overall in the field. Shania Byrne
of Marion Harding was the individual medalist at 582.
Calderon was fifth overall as she rolled games of 201, 163 and 145 for a 509 set. Alisha Noon shot a 165
high in her 475 set while Kirsten Knell, 465, and Kelsey Parker, 453 completed the team scoring.
For the boys, the Bobcats totaled 3,981, losing to Wapakoneta’s 4,325. Perrysburg shot 3,402.
BG had a 1,065 team game the second game for a 2,847 total. It added games of 224 and 202 in their six
Baker games for a 1,134 total.
Spangenberg had the second high individual series rolling a consistent series of 660 with games of 236
followed by a pair of 212 games. Wapakoneta’s Austin Krites was the individual medalist with a 278 high
game in his 744 set.
Noble had a 247 second game for a 598 set for the Bobcats while Ferguson had a 242 second game for a 591.
Lucas Jenne also shot 489 for BG and Austyn Chesser had a 206 game.
Zac Zam and Justin McCamey led the Yellow Jackets with 235, 570 and 533, respectively. Austin Waller
added a 498 for Perrysburg.
