Bowling Green's boys golf team is usually in contention for the Northern Lakes League championship.
The Bobcats are expecting to be in the same position this season.
They return three players from last season when finished second in the NLL tournament and the league's overall standings.
The returnees are senior Phillip Rich, and juniors Trey Walker and Tyler Remeis.
Walker tied for fourth in the league tournament last season and played in the Big I Championship earlier this week in Pinehurst, N.C. The Big I is one of the top youth tournaments in the country.
Rich and Walker earned All-NLL honors last season.
"We lost a lot from last year, but we have three really good players returning," said BG coach Chris Dill, who is in his 32nd season. "They have a lot of experience and they are all-league-type caliber players."
The Bobcats were 6-1 in NLL dual matches last season and finished six strokes behind Northview in the league tournament.  But BG graduated three key players - Nolan Dill,  Andrew Herringshaw and Evan Gardner.
"We're expecting (Rich, Walker and Remeis) to be consistent and be our leaders,' Dill said.
Dill expects the rest of the varsity lineup will be filled by players from a "really good (junior varsity) team last year."
Those players are juniors Tad McKanna and Aaron Crawford, and sophomores Alex Noble and Patrick Rothweiler.
"The guys coming up from the JV team have a lot of potential, and they'll grow into their roles," Dill said.
Rich is BG's only senior.
"We'll probably have five freshmen make the team," Dill said. "With only the one senior, we have a nice distribution of juniors, sophomores and freshmen, so we'll be in pretty good shape for the next couple years."
Northview is the NLL's defending tournament and overall champion. BG won both titles in 2011.
"We hope to be competitive in the league," Dill said. " Our league is always strong.  Hopefully, on any given day, we can be as good as any team in the league."
The Wood County boys golf  capsule appears on page 10.
