Many homeowners and gardeners would not think of the idea of having
someone else working in their yard or garden. Yet others, due to the size of the project or a host of other
reasons, use the service of a lawn or landscape service.Recently, the Sentinel-Tribune caught up with Bryan
Joseph and the staff of D&D Landscaping at a Bowling Green residence as they worked at the
condominium of Rob and Mary Holley.Much of their work that day involved adding a layer of mulch to the
landscaped areas of the Holley home, including a large impressive waterfall feature."We can do just
about anything for people, from full landscaping to regular maintenance," Joseph said.There are also
provide a variety of other services. He noted how an elderly gentleman recently wanted to change a bush at
his home. D&D came out and was able to do the work the man could not do himself.He said there are
also times when they may provide a temporary service such as mowing the lawn while the family is on vacation
or otherwise out of town. They can do the little projects, such as trimming one or two bushes, up to full
scale patio or lawn installation."People could spend as little as $30 up to whatever someone dreams up.
The project can be extraordinary, it all depends on the homeowner," Joseph said.He called the Holley
backyard "a little resort."Similarly Rob Holley calls it "our own little oasis. It is very
relaxing out here."Mary Holley elaborated further saying they no longer travel for vacations, they just
enjoy their time at home with family and friends. She also used the phrase, "very relaxing for us and
our neighbors."Humans are not the only ones that enjoy it. She said they recently saw a wild female
turkey, along with deer and ducks to name a few.

Unlike some condominium communities, at their
Sequoia Heights area off of Wintergarden Road, Mary said they are blessed with large yards.For them, she
shared that the design was done to be low maintenance. One interesting fact is that the rocks in the
waterfall are glued into place. The idea is the rocks will not move to assure both the look and the sound is
preserved.Mary Holley said Klotz Floral and Garden was hired a few years back to do the main landscaping
including the waterfall and the brick outdoor fireplace."We wanted it to look like the Northwest style
of atmosphere," she said.At the time Klotz had someone on staff from that area and knew exactly what
the family was looking for and designed the landscaping.The fireplace has some interesting features. The
family had been in possession of some inspirational "word rocks" which were incorporated into the
design, along with some bricks from the original Clay Street in Bowling Green. Rob Holley’s grandfather
helped lay some of those bricks.Like most gardens, they change things and modify some of the look on a
regular basis."It’s still a work in progress. It’s not just something that you just do and are
done," Mary Holley said.The area was also designed to have some year-round color including a variety of
daylilies, hostas and chrysanthemums, to name a few. For her though the yard is "gorgeous" in the
fall, which is her favorite season."The look changes throughout the seasons. The mums will blanket
this," she said. "We spend a lot of time out here in the fall. We have a television to watch a
football game, drink some wine with friends and have a fire. We just love it."
