Inside the Home & Garden World building, various horticulture and flower
entries showcase some of the best the local garden clubs and other individuals
have to offer. Next door in the Grange Building, many of the home-grown
vegetables are showcased.
The county’s Master Gardeners are also set up in the Home and Garden World Building,
offering information most days from noon to 9 p.m. On Saturday and possibly
other days, volunteers will be in as early as 9 a.m.
The volunteers will provide answers to questions regarding your garden, as well as
details on upcoming sessions for the next training for the master gardener
program. An informational meeting is set for Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at Way Public
Library in Perrysburg. (More information on this program will be published at a
later date.)
Beyond the building, just a trip around the fairgrounds will allow the gardener to
see many shining examples of landscape ideas and settings which they can include
at their home. Several area landscape and garden center businesses graciously
set up displays at various locations around the fairgrounds.
Sentinel photographer J.D. Pooley took some photos of the some of the displays at the
fair this year. Among the more unusual are the sandbox set up in front of the
Home and Garden World Building by D&D Landscaping, and the water feature
constructed in the back of an old pick-up truck in front of the Fine Arts
Building, created by Bostdorff Greenhouse.
There are numerous other showcases for gardeners to enjoy and get ideas throughout
the Wood County Fairgrounds.
