Gen. Eisenhower is guest for Wolcott Lecture Series

On Thursday, Kenneth Hammontree will be appearing as General Dwight Eisenhower for the Wolcott House
Museum Lecture Series at the Maumee Library.  Hammontree is a renowned first person raconteur and
historian. After college he was teaching American and Ohio history and was surprised to learn that many
of his students did not share his excitement about our past. He decided to teach his lessons in first
person attire and his premiere performance was as Johnny Appleseed.
He left teaching and was employed by Marathon Oil Company, but continued his character portrayals. He is
now involved with ministerial church work.
Over the years he has added to his repertoire that includes: George Washington, Tecumseh, General Patton,
Jefferson, Simon Kenton, Simon Girty and Commodore Perry.
Hammontree has thoroughly researched and will portray General Eisenhower on July 6, 1944 as he is
addressing the international press corps that has been flown across the English Channel for this
exclusive press conference to hear the first public comments on the D-Day invasion and its success.
The lecture is at 10 a.m. in the auditorium of the Maumee Branch of the Lucas County Library.
The lectures are free and open to the public. The guild will serve coffee and light refreshments
afterward.
