Weston festival set for weekend

WESTON – The annual Weston Days Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday. Activities will also
include a community worship service on Sunday.
Festivities kick off with the "Family Block Party" from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
Among the highlights will be Marc’s Ark Exotic Animals from 6-7 p.m. Friday in the kid’s tent. The
hour-long show will feature live animals for kids to observe and touch. A little later at 8:30 p.m. in
that tent will be a video competition using the Wii system for a Mario Kart contest. There will be
prizes for the top three.
The Weston Fire Department will be hosting the beer garden with live music and food both days. Stoked, a
country cover band will be on the main stage Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Riverbend will perform in the
beer garden from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday.
On Saturday at the main stage will be Bradley beatbox hip hop dancing from 1-2 p.m. On Saturday night
Spudnutz will be playing at the beer garden from 8 to midnight.
The 5K run begins Saturday’s activities at 9 a.m, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. All proceeds
go to the National Fallen Fighters Foundation. Also beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, the Farmer’s Market
opens and runs until noon.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday there will be a cruise-in at Old Schoolhouse Park on Oak Street.
Crozier’s Body Shop is hosting this event. Those with a classic or unusual car or motorcycle, are
invited to attend. There will be door prizes and give-aways.
The parade steps off at noon.
Also for the younger crowd, there will be "Kids Crafts" held from 1 to 4 p.m., with the movie
"Frozen" shown at 6 p.m. Watermelon eating contest runs from 3 to 4 p.m. Karaoke will run from
6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
Among the other activities are bingo on Friday night; a cornhole tournament for two-person teams at 1:30
p.m. Saturday, with registration beginning that morning at 10:30 a.m; and karaoke on the main stage from
6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
There will be the traditional "Money Wheel" running both days. It will be spinning from 6 to 10
p.m. Friday and from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Organizers will conducting a raffle with three prizes: $250
for first $100 for second and $50 for third
In addition to the village’s celebration, there will be a Weston community church service and potluck on
Sunday at 10 a.m. It will be held at Sonlight Church and Community Center.
Tim Tiderman and the gospel group, One Spirit will provide special music for the service. Organizers will
be providing plenty of fried chicken and drinks; all you need to do is bring a couple of dishes to
share.
Pastor Christopher Boggs of the host church says they will provide "great worship and great food;
what an unbeatable combination."
